Yes in India a Muslim Man can legally marry & keep four wives at one time according to the Muslim Personal (Shariat) Law. All his four wives will have legal status of wife & enjoy all the legal benefits available to them equally. The concept of equal treatment to all the valid wives by the Muslim husband is the basis of this Shariat law. As far permission to get married second time from the first wife is concerned as such there is no such provision but it shall be always good for the husband to do so considering the feelings of the first wife being one who will be sharing her husband with another woman. The second wife enjoys full status of legal wife & gets all benefits the wife of a Muslim person entitled to get.

yes acceptance is necessary. n it is legal in countries india or any other islamic nation.

see when they came up this rule (a man can have four wives) they circumstances were different compared to today. Back then there weren't enough Muslims males and there were lot of widows. so they were allowed to have four wives so every female had someone to support her, provide her with financial assistance, be a father to her children and so on. it was to benefit the female. every wife was to be treated equally.

now days men find this excuse to justify their actions when they want to cheat and whatever.

i think you friend should not get married to this guy. because no woman wants her man to be with someone else. race, religion, or location don't matter.

Yes ofcourse.... He has to get acceptance from his first wife and also state the reason too for which he is going to have a second wife wen he has one already... Ask ur friend not to be hasty with this matters... If this marriage is against his first wife plz ask her not to marry... As she is getting married to her husband n first wife approval is must, she cant enter into anybody's life without permission... My only opinion for ur friend - Plz dont marry, u might get singles.... Just think on this before u make any decision, u have 3 lifes in frount of -u, ibrahim n his first wife... Wat ever decision u take see to that u dont harm anybody s feelings

It is legally valid in India (thanks to vote bank politics) but polygamy is never morally valid. On pen and paper, yes, the guy has to take the permission of the first wife to get a second one, however, in practice it does not matter. The guy can threaten "Triple Talaq" and force the first wife to keep her mouth shut while he takes the second wife against her wishes.

I recommend you ask your friend to marry a non-polygamist.

Good luck!

y might want to u get married lower than muslim regulation at the same time as u r no longer muslims. i imagine ur marriage isn't criminal because christians can't be married to bigger than one human being at a time. the guy who said u husband and spouse is a fraud besides. because even muslims can't be married to bigger than one human being at a time. He ought to divorce his first spouse and u ought to then get married. Then it is going to likely be criminal. There are strict rules that enable a guy to be married to 4 women individuals at a time. all and assorted has to agree and all and assorted is dealt with a similar way. in my view i belive no guy is adequate to have 4 better halves. Prem_raj is absoluty perfect.
