It's so loud. It wakes up the baby. We can't have a normal conversation in our backyard.

Petition for a speedbump or a dip built into your street!

First off throwing oil, tacks or two by fours in the road could end you up in jail at best and one Hell of a lawsuit at worse. These actions are illegal and you will be held liable for them. What if you don't get him but instead injure one of your neighbors or their kids, how you are you going to feel about that?

What you can do is contact the police and make them extremely aware of the problem. Breach of the peace is against the law, and trust me he is breaking the law. Most exhaust systems that people put on their bikes are clearly not for road use and lack the proper markings for use on the street and roads. Whoever is passing his bike for inspections is breaking the law by passing this bike, so let your state licensing bureau know about this also. Find your local city councilman and make him aware of the problem. Get as many people complaining about the problem and something will get done.

I hate to say it but if people don't ride responsibly, then the government will put into action laws we don't like and will have to live by. Denver has a loud pipe ban on bikes that is really harsh on motorcycle owners because of jerks like this going way overboard.

Call the cops. He's likely: 1. Speeding, and thus endangering the lives of people in the neighborhood. 2. Breaking city ordinances on noise pollution. Harleys can be loud... but they do NOT have to be.

Tell him (if you can).
Call the cops. I hate to say it, but it's about all you can do.

Tom, I'm highly surprised at you for suggesting that anyone do something you KNOW will cause harm to a biker (even an obnoxious one).
Oil on the road? Shame on you!

If you know who it is, go talk to him. I'm sure your neighbors feel the same way. If you're afraid to confront him, file a complaint with the police. Convince your neighbors to do so as well.
Don't throw tacks or drywall screws in the road, you'll have the poliza coming to visit you. Not to mention your neighbors gotta use that road too.

build a speedbump in the middle of the night and paint it black, put a lawn chair out in the am and sit there with your coffee and the paper and wait for dumbass to come flying by. he will be looking more at you than at the road.

Complain to the police, call the non emergency # 20 times a day if you have to. Make videos to show the police and association how bad it really is. With video evidence you may even be able to sue him in small claims court but that might be stretching it.. If you have a neighborhood association check to see if its breaking the rules. They may be able to fine him or charge every time they send him a warning letter.

Big nail in my rear tire is going to stop me from racing around this weekend. Well, until I get it fixed anyway.

sorry, but you can't stop him. If he's speeding or endangering others than you can call the cops.
