can it be developed or do you think people are just born that way?

to the ones that talk in that... voice. Like some sort of homosexual accent. It sounds forced, like their personality seems pretentious. Is there a gene that makes them talk and act the way they do? Are they for real?

Scientific researchers who specialize in human sexuality have shown that homosexuality is linked to biology and genetics.

An October 2004 scientific research publication stated that scientists have found that women tend to have more children when they inherit the same genetic factors linked to homosexuality in men & that this fertility boost more than compensates for the lack of offspring fathered by gay men and keeps the “gay” genetic factors in circulation; a 2005 study reported genetic scans showing a clustering of the same genetic pattern among gay men on three chromosomes; a study published in Human Genetics in February 2006 found extreme differences in X chromosome inactivation in mothers of gay sons and mothers whose sons were not gay; and another 2006 scientific study found that a man's likelihood of being gay rises with the number of older biological brothers even if gay men were raised away from their biological families.

The "scientific detail" Jenn mentioned is flat out wrong. It is a general consensus in the scientific community that there is no "gay gene" that has been discovered. Even Simon LeVay conceded that this is exactly the wrong conclusion to derive from his work. The best guess science has for homosexuality is, like all behaviour, it is probably caused by a mix of both innate characteristics and environmental factors.

Edit: To the jackass ".Anonymity", just because you agree with a certain viewpoint doesn't make it true. If you were really interested in the facts and proof about this debate, you should do the responsible thing and research it for yourself - you will find that everything I have stated is true. If you were to look up this simon guy that rainbow girl as you call her is talking about and study his research you will find that he has admitted to faking the whole thing. He did this just so he could have an excuse for him being a homsexual.

If you want the real answer you need to look at the Bible. God says in the Bible that this is not natural and is a perversion that he allows people to do because of the hardness of there hearts. I am pretty sure the creator of everything would know the answer to this more than one that he created and had an agenda of his own to find a gene that causes the unatural event.

If we look at the reason woman was put on earth was to be mans companion. If we read in genesis we find that there was only one man created before woman was created for man by God. After this God told man to go forth and populate the land. Could man populate with 2 men or 2 women? No! It takes a man and a woman to procreate. This is the way God intended it to be and is why it is this way in nature. If we go by darwins theory of natural selection and genectic mutations over millions of years the gay gene would not make since. Because when it first appeared it would have been weeded out of the gene pool right of the bat. Knowing what darwins theory states it is only logical to come up whith this conclusion. If you look at the statistics for mutations to reproduce the same agian it is astronomical how small the possibilty of this is to happen. So we see even if we went with there is no God or creator and we all evolved from a bang or ooze it still does not make sense.

If you believe that God The fathe of Jesus Christ did not Create the universe as the Bible states think about this.
It is more plaussible for a tornado to go through a auto salvage yard and construct a fully operation boeing 747 jet airplane than it is for the big bang to of happened.

Both plus many other ways.

Some people believe they were born gay. Some are influenced by experiences in their life. I'm talking about the act of homosexuality. Many men have homosexual sex but it doesn't make them gay. example prison, military etc.

Having a homosexual experience doesn't determine someone's sexual identity.

Example me. I fell in love with a girl when I was in middle school. I loved her with all my heart. Later in life I started having sexual feeling towards guys. I tried to get rid of those feelings but they didn't go away. Even later in life I had a best friend that was male and our companionship grew to a point that we loved each. Men are capable of loving another man without being Gay. I've seen it. I know men that love other men without having a sexual relationship and are still straight. Me on the other hand knew I was different because my frienship with my friend became sexual. When that happened I knew I wasn't straight. He though was still straight.

This created a problem and our friendship failed. There are many levels of homosexuality. Having sex with other men doesn't make a person Gay. Being Gay makes a person Gay. Some men don't realize they are Gay until the have a relationship with another man, while other Gay men know at a early age they are Gay. It varies form person to person. You can't put a label on it.

And yes some gay men do put on a fake accent and personality. Example when I first came out I was just the normal guy. I met my first gay friends they were very open and flambouant. I soon started talking and acting like them. It's like moving to England from the U.S. after awhile you start talking and acting like the people you are around. There is a gay culture and if you live in that culture you become part of it, just like any other culture in the world. If you move to South America you take on the persona of the South Americans.

People are people, some people are born gay. Some people realize they are gay later in life. Some people have homosexual relationships and aren't gay at all.

It's very complicated and there really isn't a proven answer to your question. Hope this helps.

We're born this way. The gene cluster responsible for homosexuality has been found on the X chromosome (found by Dean Hamer). Along with that, the part of the brain that controls sexuality has been definitively found to control orientation as well. Here is what Simon LeVay found, in a nutshell...

The Hypothalamus is the sexuality control center for the brain. Simon LeVay discovered that there are different parts that control our sexuality. He studied these parts and narrowed down which ones controlled male and female typical sexual behavior. The section that controls male sexuality is called the Medial Preoptic Area. The female counterpart is called the VentroMedial Nucleus. These sections that control this behavior exist in both men and women, however, the male typical section is larger in men and vice versa for women. In a later study LeVay monitored the activities of the Medial Preoptic Area and the VentroMedial Nucleus while stimulating homosexual men and women and straight men and women with flash cards of the same and the opposite sex. He also stimulated their nose by allowing them to smell a cloth containing the sweat of a man or a woman.. Not only did he find that the opposite section of they hypothalamus reacted in the homosexual subjects, but he also found that the two section's sizes were the opposite of the sex of the subject. The gay men reacted to male stimuli and had a larger VentroMedial Nucleus. The lesbian women reacted to female stimuli and had a larger Medial Preoptic Area.

You hear people say "theories" so often because most don't even know that proof is out there. The rest refuse to believe the facts because their own predisposed beliefs say otherwise, this however doesn't negate that it's proven fact.

"The Science of Desire: The Gay Gene and the Biology of Behavior" by Dean Hamer (explains the gene cluster causing homosexuality and how it's passed on [cluster Xq28 found on the X chromosome])

"Queer Science: The Use and Abuse of Research into Homosexuality" by Simon LeVay (explains how the parts of the hypothalamus control orientation… and also reviews a lot of other orientation research that has been done)

...by the way these aren't "theories" they're proven and certified by the American Psychology Association http://www.apa.org and the American Psychiatric Association http://www.psych.org

edit: Thank you Mr. M. = )

edit edit: How can Sam, Shadow and Alien doubt my answer when I have clear and realistic sources to back me up? Even my sources have well founded support. Don't trifle with fact boys, read for yourselves, the books are right there. LeVay is straight and stands by his work by the way. Additionally the study done by LeVay was replicated with the same results in Sweden last November. I'll get back to you on the research publications and the APA's analysis of the study.

actually it is eggs zactly the same phenomena as foot ball jocks
you know: the guys that take new wives on a tour of world class stadiums in the USA as a honeymoon extravaganza

Our culture gives it to them

so it is you being alive and living the life you live that radionicly create the genes in your fellow humans
remember what one man achieves the race achieves what the race achieves mst men follow along cause it is easier

so your mentality , attitudes and agendas create Homosexuality and that voice and the football jock "I am" and the poor wife that found someone that will pay for the bedroom she sleeps in and the food she will feed her kids

YOU helped create it
isnt the progress of the human race into the twenty first century just amazing?

Any answer with "Simon LeVay" should be held as suspect.

Short answer is; no one really knows.

The point is that it just shouldn't matter.
No one really knows what causes left handed-ness either but I don't see anyone organizing protests against southpaws.

We're human beings who love other human beings. Regardless of sexual orientation. It's really no ones business as long as no one is being taken advantage of or being hurt. PERIOD.

I think it can go either way... some are born gay, others just are due to what they encountered growing up. No matter what, it is what it is... you know? If someone is gay, it's just how it is reguardless of how it came to be.

Later, Matt
