Who has the best serve in woman tennis currently?

As the question said "currently" not in history I would have to say that Venus does not count. Right now the female player with the strongest serve is Ana Ivanovic. Venus Williams does have a strong first serve but she has a weak second serve. Ana Ivanovic has a strong first and second serve.

Nicole Vaidsisova cannot out serve Ana Ivanovic.

Maria Sharapova does not count because every once in a while she develops a "shoulder injury" that prevents her from serving.

1. Venus Williams-- Venus has the fastest first serve on the women's tour (and has for many years). She has continued to break her own record for the fastest serve by a woman (currently 129 mph). Her second serve on the other hand has always been a major weakness and she usually serve's in the low 80's.

2. Serena Williams-- When Serena is at the top of her game, she has the best combined first and second serve on the woman's tour. Her first serve is not quite as fast as Venus, but she can still get it up to 125 mph. She also places her serves better than Venus and has a much better second serve.

3. Ana Ivanovic-- Ana also has a great serve with power and placement, but it's not as consistant as either of the Williams sisters.

4. Maria Sharapova-- A couple of years ago Maria had the best combined first and second serve (better even than Serena in terms of consistency), but then she injured her shoulder and lost a lot of power and double faults alot more. Right now her first serve is weaker than her second serve used to be.

5. Justine Henin-- People underestimate Justine's power because she is small, but she can still serve in the 115 mph range consistently which is rare on the woman's tour and pretty amazing considering her size.

6. Lindsay Davenport-- Lindsay has always been capable of serving in the 115 + range. She also has a very consistent serve with placement great enough to get a lot of aces in her matches against most players.

Overall-- I'd have to say that Venus has the most feared serve in the woman's game right now.

virtually all the top tennis players have good serves.. because power is an issue... Elena Demetevea i do not know how she survives with such a weak serve.

ultimately Venus willams has the most powerfull serve, speed wise atleast, ok second serve is a bit shaky...

then i would agree Serena willams has a great serve

then i would pick Ana Ivanoic

then Vaidsova

but speaking in another sense, pound for pound and based on her size.. justine henin is the most impressive out of all the above mentioned, she can still produce high speeds of her serve, and she does not suffer as much as they above players with her second serve.... thats why justine is number 1!

I think it's between the Williams sisters. I'm not a fan of theirs, but there's a reason why they keep setting the records for the fastest serve ever. Sharapova, Vaidisova and Ivanovic have powerful serves, but they are too inconsistent and get their serves broken too often to be considered the best.

Right now, I'm going to say VENUS WILLIAMS because of her heighth and strength she probably can ace you out of the court. SERENA, can serve big too, but I think VENUS has a little more consistent serve and 2nd serve.
