First, this is a math question, NOT CHEMISTRY.
The conversion factor is given as 0.6 miles = 1km.
By proportion, this means that 84 miles is equivalent to (84/0.6) which equals 140km.
There are some useful programs which can do conversions in no time at all. Go to www.download.com. Search for a program called CONVERBER. It's a small program, but very efficient in performing conversions. There are other ones too. Go through the mathematics section of the website.

How about Miles per Hour to Kilometers per hour: Roughly speaking : 60 miles per hour divided by 0.6 = 100 KPH Vice Versa: KPH to MPH 100 Kilometers/ hr x .60 = 60 Miles per hour. This is a quick idea when you are driving your USA made vehicle in Canada where their posted speed limits are in KPH. Believe me when I say USA made vehicle because the odometer is set to MPH for USA driven vehicles and th eodometer is shown in KPH if the vehicle is headed for Canada or to be driven in Europe. If you happen to get behind the wheel in a Chrysler Pacifica, there is a button that will switch the speed indicator from MPH to KPH. I believe the truer conversion is .62 x KPH to get MPH. It's a lot easier using 0.60 as a conversion factor
