x + y = 24
- x - 5 y = - 3------ADD
- 4 y = 21
y = - 21 / 4
x - 21 / 4 = 24
x = 96/4 + 21 / 4
x = 117 / 4
x = 117 / 4 , y = - 21 / 4

3x+3y=3
x+y=1
x=1-y
72x+5y=3
substitute
72(1-y)+5y=3
72-72y+5y=3
-67y=-69
y=69/67
then it is some ugly fractions after that substituting back into x=1-y = -2/67
Check:
3(-2/67) + 3(69/67) =? 3
Divide both sides by 3
-2/67 + 69/67 = 1 yes
72(-2/67) + 5(69/67) = 3?
24(-2/67) + 5(23/67) = 1?
-48/67 + 115/67 = 1?
Yep. It works. Ugly problem.

3x + 3y = 3
and
72x + 5y = 3
3y = 3 - 3x
y =(3 - 3x)/3.........1
72x + 5y = 3.........2
substitute 2 into 1
72x + 5[(3 - 3x)/3] = 3
72x + (15 - 15x)/3 = 3
(216x + 15 - 5x) / 3 = 3
216x - 15x + 15 = 3(3)
216x - 15x = 9 - 15
216x - 15x = -6
201x = -6
x = -6/201
x = 0.03
