For or against her morals and values?

I do not think she is a hypocrite. Even before the pictures came out she said that she had made all of the mistakes that she was warning younger women not to make.

I think a lot of people judge her without ever having read her books or listening to their show.

I think she gives good advice that is designed to help people eliminate their problems, not just a bunch of crap designed to make them feel better temporarily.

Dr. Laura is a trained clinician, and is well aware of how to help. She does some great work with individuals who call her, when she is focused on the problem that inspired their call.
The concerns with her begin at the point that she takes undue privilege in moralizing their past (and present). Often, this takes the form of making their issues the centerpiece for her own beliefs, and preaching to them about the errors of their ways. THIS, is where she looses credibility, in that, she begins to undue the good that she has brought to their situations by purposeful criticism. Her opinion is unimportant in the therapeutic process. An example might be: Helping a single mother to explore the reasons for and possible solutions for her depressed feelings. THEN, scolding her for being a single mother. If the father of the child(ren) is absent and the mother is unwilling to discuss him and his behavior, the doctor will blame the mother for making him leave. So, without even understanding the full depth of the issues, she has done more harm than good.
Examples like this are what in many ways make her show (and on-air practice) abhorrent and problematic to so many people. Particularly, those who know the damage that can be inflicted by presumed helpers who take advantage of the helping process.

Considering some of the people who call in, clueless about what to do, Dr. Schlessinger does help people. I'm happy to say that not everyone has her life but there are some people out there who are pretty messed up and she makes a big difference.

I don't like how she lives by the "do as I say, not as I do" motto. As another poster pointed out, her mother lay dead in her apartment for days and nobody knew about it. It turns out that Laura hadn't spoken to her since the late 1980s. Not only was she estranged from her mother, but also her younger sister. Laura shut her out of her life from the beginning.

I don't like her. She was on one of the radio stations I used to listen to and i think she is full of herself and incredibly judgemental. She thinks that what she says is constructive and if you were a real professional she could give constructive advice without being so verbally abusive and condescending. She looks down on people and thinks (in my opinion) that she is above all these people that call her for help. This behaviour of hers is simply to inflate her own ego and shows little regard for the people that she is speaking to. What she does in my opinion is feed off the dark side of people. No I don't like her.

At first glance she seems to give some helpful advice but she often gets all puffed up on herself and she speaks to others in that whiney condescending manner of hers. If you can get
past that part of her I would say that she does help most who call her.

certainly, i've got not heard that word in the past the two! per possibility the undesirable physician did no longer % the caller to apply the race card, so as a replace, she reported: "do no longer NAACP me!" for the reason that we are ALL bowled over on the entire verbal replace, that is severe time the undesirable physician explains to the traditional public her misguided decision of words!

I don't know.....she preaches family, family, family yet her own mother was dead in her apartment for I don't know how many days before someone found her and then it came out that she and her mother were estranged. I was really put off by that.

I think because of the pictures that came out about six or seven years ago that she's a hypocrite.
