She is called a snob because she behaves like one. I do not mean this in a derogatory manner. People who are born with a silver spoon in their mouths, have people who cook, clean, drive them around, do the yard work, who go to private schools, have unlimited money to spend on whatever they please, go where ever they please, tend to look down on those who do not live as they do.
Miss Hilton probably doesn't mean to behave as a snob, but her breeding shows clearly, and many people are simply jealous of her, for her money, looks, connections, easy life etc.
I don't dislike Miss Hilton, I don't like her either; I don't know her well enough to like or dislike her. All I can go by is how she behaves, and I have to tell you that this young woman is really still a child.
Miss Hilton has little grasp of reality. She doesn't understand the world, nor is she very sophisticated regarding what real life is for most people in the world. She has been pampered, spoiled, and coddled to a point it has injured her ability to perceive the real world. She is not able to comprehend how difficult life really is, and is use to receiving special attention and getting what she wants all the time.
Snobbery comes from every walk in life, not just the rich and famous. Snobbery is when you think you are better than others. Miss Hilton has demonstrated by her behavior that she views life this way. She has demonstrated a desire to be like others, but in reality she isn't like others.
Her life is with the top 5% of richest families in the world. That is a rather exclusive club, and most who reside in it are snobs, period. It is something instilled by birth alone.
I doubt Miss Hilton thinks of herself as a snob. However, if you view her within the spectrum of her behaviors, she has clearly demonstrated this. In her "reality" show, she shows it very clearly, by her "willingness" to get her hands "dirty" living like a "common" person. She mocks everyone who lives in that world by showing her complete inability to function within the world of the other 95% of us. I don't think she meant to mock anyone, but nonetheless she did and does.
I feel sorry for Miss Hilton because I think her parents have done her a huge disservice. She was totally unprepared for the real world, to face real consequences of her actions. I also think the judge was far to harsh with her and unfair. Others who committed the exact same offense were not subjected to that harsh of a sentence. Her very fame and fortune worked against her in this case, but 9 times out of 10 it will do the exact opposite and work in her favor.
People struggle with her putting herself in the limelight and showing off her assets, not just her looks but her way of life. It is a smack in the face of the working social class and they won't forgive her for it, not for a moment. They glorify in her fall from 'grace' and eat up everything bad which comes her way.
I think her parents should rethink how they treat her. Until she can view the world as it really is, and have some real compassion and empathy for those less fortunate than she, she will continue to be a spoiled rich heiress who breeds the contempt of the very people she thinks are her "fans".
Miss Hilton is achingly innocent, naive and without a clue. My heart aches for all the pain she will feel in life as she is one of the most unprepared for the real world. This is her parents fault and they are responsible for her utter lack of social concienceness, of how hard and difficult life truly is.
Miss Hilton lives in a very affluant lifestyle. She took herself out of her nice fortified world and walked into the real world totally unprepared. Of course she is going to fall, but she will learn from her mistakes.
However, her parents won't let her learn, as they keep telling her she was treated unfairly, without telling her that life is NOT fair. They keep pampering her and not allowng her to grow into the fine adult she is capable of becoming. That is tragic.
However, the bottom line is that she does not ever have to worry about working for a livng, or of insecurity, of being poor, without medical care, etc. She doesn't have to 'grow up' in the true sense of the word. I do hope she does though, because that is how we grow.

Probably because of the way she acts. She projects the image of one who thinks she is much better than others i.e. a snob. Of course when she was released from jail we all saw a side of Ms. Hilton that said, I am not any better than anyone else. I think that Ms. Hilton just puts on a big show for everyone.

I would imagine it's because she always has her noise stuck up in the air. As for it being to harsh, I don't think so. The woman hasn't done anything remotely deserving of fame,. Besides acting like a spoiled brat for all the world to see, that is. Personally, I despise her. With all the money she supposedly have, she's in a position to do something worthwhile and yet do nothing but party. She hasn't any claim to beauty, yet act like she's God's gift to the world. She should eat herself a few burgers and get a life. A real one, that is.

Snob isn't the first word that comes to mind, although it is on the list.
Horse-faced, slutty, white trailer trash comes first.
Then snob.
