Hi, i am a 19 year old college student who also does small time modeling on the side. I am from a small town in Michigan and I am having a serious problem on myspace. About a year ago I joined & found out that I had an imposter. This person stole all my pics!! So I made a salute sign and video, that I sent to Tom. They deleted her page, but she came back with a different page. I keep sending in signs and she keeps getting deleted but she always comes back & makes the same URL. I even switched pages so she wouldn't find me but she found me =/
So she started harrassing me and I got so scared that I left myspace but I recently rejoined. She has now made TWO imposter pages of me..I feel like I am being stalked and myspace won't help at all.
Is this identity theft? She does talk to people who then contact me where she has told them she wants to engage in sexual acts, even gave them phone numbers and sexual photos that aren't even me but they think that it's me. I'm kinda scared now..HELP!!!

Hi

That wouldn't count as identity theft. You should never put a picture of yourself online without watermarking them first. As long as she has your photos on her computer's hard drive, she can continue to create my space accounts and place your pics on there, so it doesn't matter how many times her account is deleted. Watermarking is placing text on your picture so no one can do anything illegal with them even if they do steal them online. This is an example of a watermarked photo:

Try to put the text across your face, but make your face viewable. This will make it impossible for anyone to do anything with your pics if it is watermarked across your face. If it's watermarked anywhere else, they can simply cut/crop that part of the picture off. This is a good example of placing watermarked text across your face on a pic:

You can use paint.net to watermark your photos. It's free and you can get it from here:

Here are instructions for watermarking photos in paint.net:

As far as the harassment is concerned, you need to get the police involved so they can make myspace give the IP address of the person stalking and harassing you so you can find where she lives, press charges and get your pictures off her computer, and delete any of her myspace accounts that has your pics on them. I hope this helps you, and I wish you the best of luck with your situation.

This one question has turned into a spambot that I can't eliminate no matter how many times I put it into my SPAM folder. The fact that I can't delete a question that becomes tiresome or spam infected is the reason I no longer post on Yahoo Answers. Thanks Obama!!!... and Yahoo Answers, I met my wife through your interesting website, but now I'm breaking up with you, because you refuse to supply the account holder with the ability to delete answered questions, or you don't have the capability to develop this feature, and I think that's just sad... parting is such sweet sorrow... Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

That's not ID theft, that's harassment.

Contact the police IMMEDIATELY.
