what makes you a man?

my friends think fighting is what makes a man, ok, only animals fight. i am not an animal. nor am i a satanist. kids at school seem to think not fighting is girly and gay. and it seems their christian parents taught them in their ways of hating gays, ok i'm not gay, i'm 100% straight, but just saying it apparently doesn't make it true. i guess what a7x said is true "he who makes a beast of himself gets rid of the pain of being a man" and if you are the alpha beast, you don't need to worry about not being a man. why is this so. also, having emotions is gay, so is thinking, reading for fun, studying, listening to metal, watching anime, talking about feelings, talking about politics, wearing a leaf (not flower) designed tie, open-mindedness. I am a fat, acne-faced, long haired,metal head who loves video games, smart but not a nerd, who wants to know what is the true definition of a "man".

by fat, not like extremely obese, but girls don't like me.

BOYS fight, call others 'gay', judge what others enjoy, and generally worry about proving they are a 'man'.
MEN go about life, are secure in who they are, don't cut down others, and don't have to prove anything to anyone.

p.s. - as for you being too fat for girls to like, let me tell ya' something bro - girls are attracted to confidence more than anything else. Be true to yourself without apologies, and the hotties will flock!

I won't try to give you a "true definition" of a man, but, seriously, emotions, thinking, reading for fun, studying, politics, and open-mindedness are considered manly stuff by many people in many cultures, even "macho" ones. Find the right environment, and even poetry and opera puts hair on your chest (who would call Placido Domingo a wimp?) Think old school and classic (notice I left out some of the things you mentioned). In any case, keep reading, discover and develop unique, quality interests, and all this stuff is gonna settle out in time.

What make you really a Man is that you do whatever you wanted to do. If you are a nerd then screw those who have annoyed you. Man does not afraid for he believe in. Never ever let anybody stop what you wanna do. If they dont like it, screw them.
Every Man in this world have emotions or feelings, whether he is gay or not. I'm a straight guy as yourself. I have 3 kids. I have a degree in accountancy but I'm doing my own business now.
BTW, I'm 36 years old. I have a Snes, PS1, PS2, Saturn, Dreamcast, Cube, Wii and a 360. I love my anime especially Naruto, Bleach and One Piece. I still have my Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Anthrax etc cds. I dont have weird tie though.

Can you or would you defend a woman or a child? Would you help a person who had nothing? Would you help a child to fix a toy? Mow the grass for a elderly person? Get their groceries and not keep some of the change?
Can you go to God and say that you are glad that He cares for you and what you need? Will your dying have tears , or jeers when it is over. Will you pick up a weapon and defend your family? Will hitting a woman or child prove only that you are Not a man; just a brute. You bet it will.
Can and would you be able and proud to raise a happy child that never saw you drunk or high? That smiled and ran to you in Joy? That to me is a man. Can you measure up to that?

What i am saying is that being man transcends age, gender, machismo and doing manly roles. Being a man is to be able to take a stand for what you think and what you feel is right, whenever the need arises. It is being able to accept and express your self, your sexuality and the maturity and the responsibility that goes with it.

I think you have answered your own question, dont follow the crowd , be your own person, you will not be 100 percent popular but at least you will be able to live with yourself, and you will be the kind of person the right people want to associate with, and there are a lot of really neat metal heads, that made it big in the world, that didnt follow just because it was popular and get in trouble for the rest of their lives. Just be your own man.

Don't worry about what other people think of you too much at all. Particularly about what boys think about being a man. That's silly.
Fighting might be masculine, but it's not one of the better testosterone driven traits, and isn't necessarily 'manly'.
Being a man is strong character and doing what's right, and respecting other people (particularly women ^_~).

Actually you are in fact an animal.We are all animals. None of that is gay. The only thing that makes you gay is if you have sex with other men and enjoy it. It seems you have self image problems, I suggest working out or something increasing your physical fitness (this has been scientifically proven to correlate with intelligence)

Works hard , has the respect of those that know him. The first to volunteer his help and can be counted on to finish anything he starts. if he's a father his family knows they will be safe and the first thought in his mind. Doesn't do anything but his best at whatever it is he does. Respects others , and respects himself.
