First make sure this is what you want. I am going through a divorce right now and it's the worse thing I ever put my son through. My daughter didn't take it so bad because it was her stepfather still, it doesn't change the fact that it's a major life altering experience for everyone. But anyway..if you're 100% positive this is what you want, you need to sit down with your husband and explain to him that things aren't working out. Remember to hear him out as well so that both of you are on the same page. Let him know that you want to make it as smooth of a transition as possible for everyone and you don't want it to get ugly.
***Believe me divorces involving children CAN get ugly. I hope that both you and him see eye to eye. This will make things so much easier.
I wish you the best.

If you want a divorce, I would imagine that he is aware of problems, too. Have an idea of how you want to work out all of the issues, sit down and talk to him. Be calm and don't get angry.
I'd suggest, if it can wait, do it all after the holidays so the kids won't have a stressful christmas.

God only gives one reason for divorce and that is adultery. If your husband has not committed adultery, you can't divorce him with out breaking your wedding vows. Your children will suffer greatly if you break up the home. You should do everything you can to make your marriage better. That is the right thing to do.

Honey, I don't care about you or the kids anymore, and I am not willing to try and work things out even for the sake of the kids so I'm filing for divorce.

I told my ex I wanted a divorce and he tried to kill me. You better get a restraining order when you do tell him.

"We need to talk. I'm sorry, but I don't love you anymore, and I think it's time to move on."
I hope this isn't because of a fling. You didn't specify your reasons.
