No more than 2-3 ounces every 3 to 4 hours. If he is throwing up, spitting up lots or having diarrhea, you are feeding him too much. You should not give more than 4 ounces until he is 4 months old. He should not have any solid food--cereal, baby food, table food--until he is 6 months old.
Just because a baby is crying doesn't mean he is hungry. He may need to burp; he may need a clean diaper; he may just need to be held for a time. Don't shove a bottle into his mouth every time he fusses--he will learn that food is the answer to all his troubles and he will become an overweight person as a youngster and adult.
And don't forget to talk to him when he is feeding. He learns language by hearing language. He needs your undivided attention--don't be reading or watching TV while feeding him unless you are reading a book outloud to him.
I know this is much more than you asked for but I felt it was important information too. You sound like a first time Mom.

I would let them eat no more than about 5oz since they really don't have that big of stomachs. Some babies will eat when they have gas since they think they are hungry. So, if you feel you are over feeding them talk to the doctor or a nurse at the office.

Don't worry about what everyone tells you they should eat. Your baby is his own person and he's not going to necessarily be like every other baby. Your baby will eat when he's hungry and stop when he's full. I tried feeding my baby when she wasn't overly hungry, because the dr told me she HAD TO eat 3 ounces every 3 hours, and all she did was vomit and spit up. So I just fed her and when she stopped, that was it. And she was fine after that. All babies are different, and you'll figure out your own schedule.

Their stomach can handle half thier weight in onces. So if the baby is 8 lbs that would be 4oz, 10lbs=5oz and so on. This is according to Pediatricians. And realize thyis is an estimate.

First, don't listen to these rude people that put you down because you don't breast feed. Second, I let my son who is one month take as much as he wants, then burp him and then offer him more. Some times he takes more, some time he's done.
