The first issue I would tackle would be health care. It's wrong that only wealthy or insured people get quality health care. That's a right we all deserve and not everyone can afford an extra $600-800 a month for insurance.

First order of business is to dismantle the Federal Reserve which is not federal but run entirely by the banking system.
Change our currency from federal reserve note back to the gold and silver standard.
Secondly: Give the United Nations 72 hours to move out of USA territory and let them go elsewhere. Turn the UN building into public housing.
Thirdly: Encourage big business to help fund a solar energy project where we end up getting at least 50% of our energy from the sun. On a grand scale no doubt.
Fourth: Build a full scale replica of the Great Wall of China along our southern border.

That is indeed a difficult question, I'm not sure I could pick just one issue. I think the first three I would attack simultaneously would be (in no particular order) environmental/global warming issues, education and economy. Without a healthy environment (that matches or excels beyond the quality we in America already have) that can sustain life on Earth little else actually matters for anyone, does it? As for education, not only do all the schools in America need to be at the same level of quality but the quality needs to be raised far higher than it is currently. Too many people are uninformed about too many things in America. An uneducated populous is a doomed populous and one who is easy to loose their freedoms. Without a strong economy, the country will face many problems. It's time America stops exporting our jobs and brings them back home.
Ok, I'm getting off my soap box now.

Well I think the first thing I would do, is to put a lid on immi-
gration. Years ago when I was small, they still had a yearly
quota of how many immigrants would be allowed and absorbed into our society without harm of over population. I
think it's been since before the presidency of Mr Reagan or around his period of tenancy in the White House, someone took the lid off. And there's been a constant flow ever since of people entering, and overcrowding our major cities. Not once did Clinton, or Bush do anything to stop the overflow. Nor even back Johnson I believe. No they wanted more voters to hit the polls. At the risk of over population, that we see today. So the quota needs to be reinstated. And the National Guard should be manning our southern and northern borders to be protection against infiltration by those who want to rob, rape, and in general terrorize and kill US citizens. And
I believe a wall or special electric fencing should be built to deter any criminal element from entering.
I also believe the work release program should
be again instituted to allow workers from across our borders
to work in our country and return at the close of the day. This
was how it was, when I was a little girl. And now, it's an open
border situation. And we're filling up here fast.
I would secure all borders, build a permanent wall, and then
once everything is secured, I'd turn my focus on another
aspect of the American people. I would get a cabinet together
of people who were experienced in dealing with poverty
stricken people, and I would work on tangible plans to start
a reversal of that situation. There would be training programs
that would help train ordinary youth to learn to build and repair
everything from pipelines to outdoor toilets in state and
federal parks. To fight forest and general terrain fires. A modern Conservation Corps that Truman or was it Roosevelt instigated. Taking idle hands of kids and getting them off the streets and putting them on federal work programs. Anyone
not working or making his life productive, would be assured
of a decent wage and 3 meals a day. I would have the National Guard round up all of the druggies and take them out of their gutter holes and put them out into forests to plant trees. Something, anything to help them dry out and try to be normal citizens again. And being productive.
Then I would encourage all able parents to start getting
active in their childrens schools and start paying attention
to their study ethics more. We've got a couple of generations
today, that don't know how to write and many who can't even
read well. And the teachers pass them onto an upper grade.
Now how are they supposed to work and support themselves
if they can't even sign their name to a work application?
Well this is just a pipe dream and not realistic I suppose.
But at least, I'm thinking about making things right again. I
think that deserves an "E" for effort anyway. And I think that's
more than any of our politicians in office are thinking about.

Health care!!!!. Why should people DIE just because they do not have health care? Or have to go into bankruptcy because they do not have health care. This includes the monopolizaton
by the Insurance company's ( who think they can play GOD), Do you know Insurance Companys never pay full price for what is on a bill, they only pay a percentage of it. But if you don't have health care or insurance they charge you the full amount and expect you to pay it. Pharmacutical company's (how can Wal-Mart charge you $4.00 for a prescription that would normally cost $100's) - that just shows the overinflated prices of drugs. and ever increasing health care costs

You do ask some tough questions! I am tempted to say social security, but that is a selfish choice. We have so many problems that are even more serious. I say tackle crime and our justice system first. We lead the world in murders and probably child molesters too. The war on drugs hasn't worked. That would be my first goal.

Give kids a full high school diploma after the 10th grade.

Allow for underage marriage at the age of 15.

Give equal treatment to statutory rape cases: meaning allow the court to decide how much a 'child' acted like an adult in the relationship. If the court can decide a 'child' acted like an adult in the commission of a crime in order to prosecute them as adults, then they can use the same judgement for a statutory rape case--how much did the child act like an adult in pursuit of the relationship? Try each case as individual cases instead of an across the board prosecution of adults over a certain age.

end mandatory minimum sentencing

end prosecution for peaceful consentual activity between two people.

end drug prohibition.

end the three strikes law.

bring back jury nullification

the fact of the difficulty is that the troops will bypass away Iraq. The conflict that's fairly gaining momentum is in Afghanistan. Troops would be faraway from Iraq and sent to Afghanistan (the place the authentic conflict is) to combat those bloody Talibans!

I'd kick all the politicians out... send them home.. .with no pension or benefits. I'd pass a law that every politician works his or her term with a "normal" salary, and then when the term is over, they would go back to work where they were before they were elected, or wherever they want to, and we would not support them or their spouses for the rest of their lives. They would have to live with the laws they passed, just like the rest of us. They would not be allowed to vote themselves raises. And I would cut the budget for almost every program on the book, by 25%, and would consider 50% on some of them.
And this is just a start......
