i know whatcha mean.... back in 8th grade, i started my homework at 3:00pm [right when i got home from school] and stayed up til 1-2am doing my homework...with only breaks for eating. its COMPLETELY insane. I mean...We have a LIFE too... we're not all about homework....It was the same in 9th grade...Exact same schedule but this year...i got 'lucky' and only get around 2-5 hours of homework.

I completely agree, and I am a mother with 2 children.
If school teachers cannot teach you what you need to know in the 7 hours you spend there, then they are not doing the job they are getting paid for.
I think children should review at home, but 2 or more hours of homework is just crap. If you are going to spend 4 hours on homework, why not just do all your work at home?
I now homeschool and all their work is homework, but it is done in about 4 hours and they can go play with friends and do other things that kids "LIKE" to do!
Good luck

I can relate! I get about 5 hours sleep on average. My school is on a block schedule so we have classes 4 times a week. Sounds cool but it's not. I just get double homework in that class for the night. I know exactly how your feeling! I play sports and I actually made myself sick from doing too much. It's like you can't even remember a time when you could relax and have fun. except I am procrastinating on homework right now and you probably are too...so STOP PROCRASTINATING! lol.

I can relate! It sucks how much work they load on us. Why can't they just make us do it while we're in school? It'd be so much easier. I've tried to think of it as a way to manage sacrifices and time management. If you're school play is tomorrow night, I'd sacrifice an assignment or two for the proper amount of sleep.

Actually, homework is here for a good reason. It is to make sure that you know the topic and to give you extra practice. however, homework can get on your nerves. it gets on mine too!
I can relate to your situation, especially tonight. I have to do a practice test and a test re-do for algebra, 2 online quizzes for science, a practice test for history, and a packet for lang. arts. oh, and i also have to study. = (
because you have a school play tomorrow night you should get as much sleep as possible. to be able to do that, maybe you could do half of your homework tonight and the rest in the morning before school.
good luck in your play!

I know homework can be tedious and seem stupid but be thankful for homework while you have it. Not only is it a grade booster but it really helps you learn the material. Once you get into college your grade will be based on maybe 3 tests, and maybe some homework, but not alot.
You have to learn everything on your own and you dont have the reinforcement of homework to know if your learning it correctly, and also no grade buffer...

Knock out your homework fast and furious. Live your whole life that way: work hard; play hard.
Sounds like you do, but just preoccupied with your play. By the way, do that BIG. Leave it all out there on the stage. Have so much fun with it. If you mess up, mess that up big, too! NO REGRETS.
Have fun, and ask us next week if we're jealous of how stellar you were!

you are so right! Enough is enough! Then they keep adding more. There should be no homework! I am a mom, and am sick of my kids doing nothing but schoolwork. They do sports too and are exhausted!
Then to top it of they took away their breaks in school, so the only time they have for themselves is lunch, which sux!

Homework sucks, but it helps your grade.
I'm in college, and I hate the professors that do not assign homework. You end up with a couple of tests and your final exam determining your grade. It makes it a lot harder to achieve As.

I'm been living off 4 hours of sleep..... homework can be tedious but I do understand why we need it... now College apps are a whole different story. Those were developed to drive us insane.
