Burning curiosity: If asteroids are hemispheric, why aren't they called "hemorrhoids," and why aren't hemorrhoids called "asteroids?"

Your question is based upon a false premise.

Asteroids are not hemispheric.

Hemi is defined as meaning half. As in one half of a sphere.

Hemorrhoids are so called due to the prefix hemo which means blood. As in a blood lesion or a blood growth.

Asteroids are so called due to the prefix aster which means star or starlike.

Asteroids are not hemispheric at all. There seems to be a point at which an accreting mass will become spherical, which is somewhere in the upper range of the the pseudo- or real diameter of the asteroids. As one who suffers from hemorroids once in a while, I sure hope asteroids are soft.

Blimey this one's a bit old isn't it?

Have you been reading papyrus scrolls from Tutankhamen's tomb again?

Sorry, someone beat you to it. Quite a few people, actually. If you've heard a joke, chances are it's already old.
