Well, the Soviet Union had the largest number of mathematicians in the world, and math is all about logic.

You cannot even go around with out a smile in North Korea, or you will end up disappearing. Children learn that early.
If you think logically in NK you will smile and keep your mouth shut.

China seems more open to debate now a day as long as it is not viewed as treason. All these Chinese students that return from the USA are having a positive impact to improve China in terms of open debate.
