Doctor-Senator Bill Frist (may God Bless him) was the last American with the courage to confront this terrible practice that is destroying our society. Why aren't we demanding a President who will do whatever it takes to put the flag-burners in Gitmo where they belong?

Because flag burning is a non issue, a diversion from the real issues and people are sick of such tactics.

Because peaceful expression isn't a crime ...yet.

But before you start considering flag burning as un-patriotic, better stop them from being made in China, and being worn on apparel, which is a violation of the flag code, which states it is disrespectful.

Waving a Chinese made flag doesn't make a person patriotic.

Burning a flag is the proper way to retire a flag. Says it right in the flag code if you ever bother to read it.

As much as I would love to b i t c h slap any person that burns the American flag, flag burning is not destroying our society. That is the last thing on my list of issues that we need to contend with. Do you think flag burning is more important then dealing with Iraq/Afghanistan, Iran, Venezuela, the Russians, the Chinese, the North Koreans, our falling dollar, our national debt, our housing crisis, our credit crisis just to name a few things?

Yes, God bless that scandalous Bill Frist...
I don't support anyone flag-burning, but it is protected under the constitution. And I am not about to deny anyone the right to do something just because I think it is bad.
And why would it be mentioned in the debate? It is already a resolved, and unimportant, issue.

JimSock, why don't any republican candidates wear a flag lapel?

You are kidding right? With all the issues that are important and critical at this point in time, you talk about burning the flag, that could be considered a better bet for free speech than the filth on prime time TV

Because there's nothing to debate. Making flag burning illegal would go against the very freedoms that the flag stands for.

Huh? You are joking right? With the war, housing bubble burst, gas prices, global climate change, health care crisis, and scandal after scandal... and you are asking a flag burning question. What rock have you been hiding under?

Bill Frist , cardiologist and ex-senator, who viewed a video and diagnosed Terry Schiro as NOT being brain dead, has NO credibility.

I hope that you have asked this question with tongue in cheek. If you are serious, I'm sorry to say, you are worried about the wrong thngs! There are people starving in this country; we are fighting in a ridiculous, made-up war for the the enrichment of the already-too-rich; we are losing our freedoms every day; we have an idiot in charge of the country------and on and on.......

Flag burning should be the least of your concerns.

There were three incidents reported in 2005, and four in 2006.

Because flag burning is constitutionally protected and people who have a problem with it are missing the big picture. Banning flag burning does not change the way people feel. If you want to win people over, try winning over thier hearts and minds instead of just limiting how they are allowed to express thier disagreement.
