A TRUE feminist wants equality, not subjecting men to the same treatment women were subjected to for centuries. There is no satisfaction in a submissive mate....either male or female. Equal....side by side....partners.........separate but together....no domination or control from either party.

You can believe in equal rights and be submissive to your husband at the same time, but you cannot be a feminist in the modern sense of the word, which is to believe in strict equality between men and women in every aspect of life. No woman can be a modern feminist and submssive at the same time. And by the way, most of that 'article' is taken from a book called Fascinating Womanhood, which was published in 1965. I do not however believe it is a good thing to be quite such a doormat as the 'article' recommends. You should certainly complain if he stays out all night without good reason, or goes out to places of entertainment without you. If you are going to be submissive, you need it to be to a man who is going to think about you as well as about himself. There has to be give and take in a relationship.

You don't have to be a feminist to beat your husband and abuse him. I am a feminist and I treat my husband with the respect and kindness that he deserves. I see my spouse as an equal I am neither or more nor less value than he is. I happen to like not having a henpecked submissive husband. Being feminist doesn't mean you think that your spouse is the scum of the Earth, being feminist means that you expect equal rights for both sexes. As a feminist I happen to believe that a woman's right to her body does not include a right to another person's body (ie. unborn babies).

I can be a feminist at times, but I would like my husband to be just as confident and strong as I am. I'm not sayin that he should contradict my every word, but that we should stand up for the things we believe in and have a great partnership.

A feminist is just a person, male or female, who believe that women should have equal rights.
Why do you think someone's political opinions make someone like submissive behavior?

You don't know the meaning of the term if that's what you think.
Feminist means a person who believes in equality between the sexes. We don't want a submissive, we want an equal partner.

Generally feminists like men who are secure enough to be able to think for themselves and let others think as well.
Its not a race for superiority. Its an attempt to bring out the best in both.
Haven't you ever been in a good, intelligent conversation where neither side had to dominate?

Nope. Feminists like husbands who are strong, because most feminists are strong women who know their own minds and have their own opinions. Strong women like that generally don't care for submissive men as it's difficult to hold respect for them.
Feminists like strong, loving, intelligent, hardworking men.

I always thought they were fighting for "equal rights". So, I would assume they do not like submissive husbands...
