I think they originally wanted to give him 8 years, but they ended up giving him 10. I guess he is in pretty good shape, and avoids injury, but the age curve of the general ball player says that he has maybe 4 years left of MVP-type production. By the time years 7 and 8 of this contract roll around, he won't be the best 3B in baseball anymore, let alone the best player, and the Yankees are going to be looking to sign the next great 3B. Meanwhile, A-Rod will still be getting paid $27million a year for 30 HR, 100 RBI and a .270 avg.

I had a feeling that he would come back since I couldn't see any teams paying $30 million a year for him. As it turns out, A-Rod wanted to be a Yankee all along, and it wasn't really about the money. Now, if he can just do well in the playoffs. If he can do that, regardless of whether the Yankees win or not, the fans will get off his back, and accept him as a true Yankee. Who knows, maybe there will be an "Alex Rodriguez Day", at Yankee Stadium. But, like I said, he has to play well in the playoffs, or he will be a modern day Dave Winfield.

Boras is a genius, since the media talking heads act as if he somehow is out of the picture. Rodriguez did not fire him, he is the highest paid player in the game and Boras will still be getting his percentage at the end of the day. Boras had a hand in this maneuvering, which again forced a club to answer to him and his client.
Personally, Hank and Hal are fools to tie up that kind of money to a player who looks great versus Kansas City in May, Texas in August and Tampa Bay in September, but can't be found in October.

no you may even start to examine A-Rod's season performances. fifty 4 residing house runs, 156 RBI, 143 Runs, 24 stolen bases, .314 BA, i could be loss of life for him to go away. manhattan would not win interior the playoffs because of the fact of their mediocre beginning pitching, no longer because of the fact of A-Rod. If it wasn't for A-Rod, NYY would not have made the playoffs this season. LaRussa will definately finally end up in long island. seem at what he did with the Cardinals final season. He took that group all a thank you to the international series. This 3 hundred and sixty 5 days's group did no longer do as properly (they did lose their paintings rigidity ace and Rolen neglected particularly some the season. Plus Edmonds is getting up there in years...) long tale short, LaRussa is the best supervisor in baseball. LaRussa + NYY = WS

My next husband, er... I mean, A-Rod met with the Yankees without his agent, Bora$$,
so in my opinion, that means he really wanted to stay in NY and I'm glad!
I would've liked for him to come to Cali, maybe the Dodgers, but staying in NY is fine with me, too.
Bottom line, I will watch him anywhere, anytime, any day of the week and twice on sundays no matter where he plays in '08.
By staying in NY, my favorite player is on my favorite team so it's a win-win for me anyway...
As for the money, he isn't sharing any of it with me, so I could care less what he gets paid.
And did I mention those eyes???? (sigh)
