Usually the sign of a fever means that the body is fighting off a virus.
**** Have him take a LUKE WARM bath for the fever. A cold bath will not help make sure it's LUKE WARM
**** Switch tylenol and motrin every four hours. So for instance at 11 take tylenol, at 3 take motrin. (that's what the doctors had me do with my children when they had HIGH fevers)
****Keep hydrated. That is very important-- maybe gatorade with electrolytes in it.
****Stay on top of the medicine and taking luke warm baths and hopefully his temp. will come down. I'm not sure if webmd.com would have any suggestions but it's worth a shot.

Alternate Tylenol and Motrin every 4 hours and get him in a lukewarm bath...a bit on the warmer side b/c if it's too cool, his temp will drop too quick and he'll start shivering. Let the water cool off slowly. Lots of water/gatorade and if the temp doesn't break by tomorrow morning, then take him back to the doctor...a persistent, high fever is a sign of infection and needs to be treated. Good luck!

Take a few minutes to list all current symptoms and any other changes he has noticed recently. Get a better idea of what is going on with him, high fever means the body is trying to fight off an infection. For instance, it's the season for lymes disease, which includes high fever, vomiting, diarrhea and painful joints. Again, gather any and all symptoms current and recent before seeing a medical professional so they can make a more informed diagnosis.

Why would they give your husband penicilin? Did they say he has an infection? It sounds to me like it could be the flu...it's the right time of year for that and if it is the flu, the penicilin will do more harm than good. also, tylenol might work better to bring down the temp. Hope this helps

Remove his clothes and take a cool bath. Continue the Ibuprofen or Tylenol. Do NOT allow him to cover up with blankets. The fever will give him chills, but the blankets will only increase his temperature.

Fever are the bodies way of fighting off an illness, sounds like the flu. A fever is not dangerous in less it goes above 105.

Okay first of all don't' panic. There are a lot of viruses going around right now. You need to have him go the the shower and take a bath with cold water. This will help bring down body temperature. Then you need to go get some Advil or Tylenol. Have him drink Gatorade or powerade. This will help for dehydration. But if you feel that he is not getting better you need to take him to the ER.

Good Luck

Call the doctor back. Get him into a tepid bath to bring the fever down and see what the doctor says when they call back. Continue the motrin and a cool washcloth to the head.

It may be that the antibiotics are making him sick- which is why a call to the doctor may be necessary. Amoxicillan always makes me sick.

I sure hope he feels better soon and you are right, I'd post a question like that on here as well since I always get great advice on here.

Vomiting may be caused by the medication itself. Did they diagnose the cause of the fever, or did they just try penicillin? For example, did they do a strep swab? I would try a lukewarm bath for now, and give them a call back.

could be an allergy to penicillin or a reaction to the penicillin or ibuprofen. sounds like he needs the doctor again.
my best,
Hope
One way to break a fever is to squeeze a lemon in one glass. (fresh lemons work best.) Put a heaping teaspoon of baking soda in another glass and add boiling water, to the glass with the soda, until about half full. Then quickly pour the mixtures from glass to glass a few times, to mix them together. The lemon juice will cool the mix to drinking temperature. Have him drink this straight down while it is still fizzing. It won't taste good but good medicines don't.
Have him go to bed and stay covered. Keep plenty of dry towels, sheets and blankets handy because he is going to sweat like crazy. His fever should break in about 12 hours.
This comes from back in the days of my grandma, but believe me, It works.
Good luck no matter what you try
Hope
