My boyfriend and i have been together for almost 7 years (this march will be 7). However, we were only 15 when we started dating making me now 22 and him 23. We plan on moving to a different state this summer. I would really like to be engaged before we move so my family is around. So he can ask my dad permission and I can show my mom. He, however, is showing no interest in making this possible for me. He says he plans on asking me but he also says "we have our whole lives we are only 23." What should i do? I really want my parents around at the moment in my life. Does this mean that hes not sure if he wants to be with me if he wont propose before then?

I think that 7 yrs is a long time to be together. If he doesn't know that he wants to marry you by now, when will he know? I don't think it is asking too much to be engaged before you pick up roots and move to another state.

You never know what your boyfriend may have planned. Him not wanting to propose now just because you want your parents to be right there isn't a good enough reason.
Unless you are moving to the moon, there are still phones and cars to use for him to ask your father permission to marry you if he wants to ask permission & when he wants to ask.
The same goes for you. You will have a phone and a car to use to tell your parents you are engaged and show them the ring.

i think that he just wants a break to see if you guys are really meant to be and if you are the one he wants to be with for the rest of his life since you have been his only one for 7 yrs. he's probably confused and needs time to think more before making a final decision even though 7 yrs is sorta a long time. he also probably doesn't want to have too much on his mind cuz he probably stessed out about some things and thinking about being engaged will just add to all of that tension. good luck!

He is not ready for this serious commitment...break it off or wait around for maybe..your choice
