why do people star questions that they don't answer?

I do it for the following reasons:

1. I find it interesting.
2. I would like to know the answer myself.
3. I want my contacts to get in on the fun too. They might know the answer.

Well sometimes you need stars to get to the next level so you star the questions not only because they are interesting but because they need the star. Also if the question is closed before they can answer it but still like the question. And last but not least, if the question's answers are helpful to you but you don't personally know the answer.

I've done it before.. when either someone else already gave a great answer, but I thought it was a really good question. Or, if it's a question that I don't have an answer for, but the question is STILL a very good one.. I star GOOD questions.. they will be well thought out, not ones that are on here all the time, or really make you think.

I might star a Q that would interest a contact of mine, or maybe I found the Q interesting but I had no answer, or was at the daily limit for answering.

Why is it when people ask questions like "Whats your favorite candy" there are always those @ssholes who answer "I don't eat chocolate" And there are always a couple of them. It's like, you're not contributing to the askers question, why do you bother answering, jack@ss.

maybe they find it interesting, but dont knwo the answer. Or maybe they have the same question, and need an asnwer

I do it when the question makes me laugh or I agree with it but don't really have anything to add.
