NAFTA was passed during the Clinton administration and congress was aware China did not have labor laws or a monitoring system for the safety of products, according to the Democrat candidates during the 11/15 debate.

Clinton now blames Bush for the problems we have with contaminated products, out sourcing and dealing with countries that have no environmental or labor laws.

Steve: Sen. Clinton blamed this Bush administration during the Nevada debate 11/15 pm.

michr: NAFTA was expanded and the China treaty was signed by Clinton in 1995. The reason I only referred to NAFTA is because the Democrat debate this evening referred to only this treaty when asking about the safety of China products.

Gerbil, obviously you did not watch the debate this evening. Also using intimidation to stop open communication will not lead to the best candidate being elected. Try answering questions instead of pretending you possess something others should fear.

Steve: Instead of blaming the other team, do you think it is possible to look at the chain of events instead of blaming Bush or Clinton? Also many of the senators running do have power to change these problems. Many vote for the policies and now are blaming the current administration.

Several things to keep in mind.

Clinton has left office in early 2001.

The minute that Bush was swore in, he stopped and changed Clinton policies that he did not like.

Republicans have been in charge from 2001 until early 2007. Bush or the Republicans had every opportunity to change any policy or law that they did not like.

Keep this in mind, and keep repeating;
It is all Clinton's fault.

didn't know China was in north America.
think ya can figure out who said this?
"Our trade policy rests firmly on the foundation of free and open markets. I recognize ... the inescapable conclusion that all of history has taught: The freer the flow of world trade, the stronger the tides of human progress and peace among nations."

BTW Ronnie Reagan started NAFTA in 1988 calling it U.S.-Canada Free Trade Agreement, and it became NAFTA when it was expanded to include mexico by a republican dominate congress.

This administration has steadily eroded the regulatory infrastructure of the country, especially the FDA and EPA.

But this should make you happy. Lead in toys is a natural result of unregulated capitalism - the Conservatives dream come true. You want free markets and low regulation, this is it.

Enjoy!

Clinton blamed Bush for this? When on Earth did that happen?
Bush has a lot to account for, but this isn't one of those things.

What no one seems to want to address is that NAFTA is not the disaster they say it is.

How could Edwards say that NAFTA lost "millions" of jobs?

It's simply not true. We haven't lost 'millions' of jobs to anything.
