Why can't I sleep? I have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning if I want to make it on the bus. Usually I can't get to sleep until around 1:00 AM and that's not enough sleep for me. Sometimes even up to 2am! I try watching tv, laying in complete silence, listening to music on low volume..

For some reason, I just cant keep my eyes shut. I'll close my eyes for half a minute but i'll open them without noticing for a while, I hate it. No matter how tired I am, I cant sleep! And when I finally fall asleep, I wake up a couple hours later!

What do you do to go to sleep and actually stay asleep, without taking medications?

i have that issue too!! it sucks. i work in a pharmacy and i have been told that the reason most people have such a hard time falling asleep is because they think too much. their mind races and too many things are on their mind. well i know that you said you didnt want to take medication...if you are willing to take an over the counter.... i swear by a supplement called 'melatonin.' you are out in about 20-40 mins. but you have to lie down or you get dizzy.
if you are totally against all 'pills' try drinking chamomile tea. that the temperature is just above your bodily temp.

Take a look at what you do in your non-sleeping hours.

Are you drinking too much coffee or eating unhealthy foods? Do you do recreational drugs?

Stop watching TV and turn off the music. You need to lay in silence, darkness and learn to shut off your mind.

Drinking a little warm milk (as long as you aren't allergic), taking a nice relaxing bath (lavender oil helps), reading a book (nothing exciting) and not internet, phone, etc. before bed.
