When I hear presidential candidates criticize Bush, I ask what the previous/Clinton administration did to prevent the problems that erupted. Whenever I ask this kind of question, I only receive evasive and defensive answers- none definitively compare the two administrations to show how only Bush is to blame. Why is it that many posters do not want to discover and discuss the history of issues, and what happened when that led to where we are today ?

Unfortunately, it seems that most people these days are more interested in "picking a side" than holding people on both sides of the political coin accountable and discussing openly the strengths and weaknesses of all concerned. They defend or gloss over everything that their "side" does, while focusing on nothing but the negative aspects of the "opposing" side. Very few people seem to have intellectual integrity these days, truly analyzing things and looking for answers. I think there are probably more out there who do than it seems, but I guess they just keep their mouths shut most of the time.

Regarding your first question, yes, it is possible to get non-evasive answers about current issues. Regarding your second question, many posters do not want to discover and discuss the history of issues, etc., because this is a question-and-answer forum.

Not from politicians. In the era of digitally recording every word that comes out of their mouths, they are not about to give a straight answer that could be used against them.

Um, because we probably don't know the history---especially if we get our information from TV media. Sad but true. How's that for non-evasive?

This is an unfair question. Bill Clinton ignored the problems as hard as he could. It's not his fault they didn't go away.
