Why does everybody think that..?

Question

You have to wear the latest fashions to be cool?
EVERYBODY, and I mean EVERYBODY in my class is athletic. Everybody wears hoodies and jeans nobody wers those gay high boots and uggs and w/e that **** is.

and no we are not in a poor area everybody in my school is sporty and if u dressed like that nobody would like you

so why does everybody think you have to dress like a runway model to be cool?

Exactly. Most of the poeple at my school who dress trendy are the dancers, most people have their own style (with the exception of the freshmen, most of whom are scene posers). It's so stupid. And we're not in a poor area either. We're all artsy types (I go to an arts school.)

You don't have to wear that stuff to be cool. Some people prefer hoodies and jeans while others prefer uggs. It doesn't make either person cooler than the other.

i guess they actually want to feel like a "runway model." sometimes it can have to do with seeking attention, social acceptance (which sounds like the case at your school) or the individuals own sense of style.

Because you're young and fashion is an easy way to judge others. It's not right but it's reality.
