I wasn't really into this. But, you have a point there. With the pitching staff the yankees have, and jorge posada behind the plate, and their outfield, i think they could have survived without a-rod. He was just publicity for them.

HA! All you Yankee fans are ridiculous. You all did this, there were over 150 post here saying that and 95% of you did just what this guy described and now most of you are gonna take it all back! You're all hypocritcs!

The fact that one jerk off thinks that he is worth $300 million is the fault of one man: George Steinbrenner! He and the rest of his insane Yankee staffers were the ones who went out and over spent for players for years to bloat the market with over priced guaranteed years so they deserve this! They have spent so much money already in this offseason and they have not addressed ONE of the problems they've had this year: Starting pitching & their Bullpen. Unless they trade ALOT they will not even get close to Johan Santana. If you think the TWINS would give him up the the NY YANKEES (which I've seen a few of you dummys think will happen) without a rediculious amount of compensation (like Hughes, Kennedy, Chamberlain plus 1) you are insane. The Yankees are the team that everyone else makes sure they pay out the nose for everything because they will.

I love the new Steinbrener mgt. team. This is gonna be fun to watch!

EDIT: Hey Jazzie, you're an idiot. How did they address anything when they've been with the team since last year. And calling those 3 glorified relievers "jems" is a stretch pal!
Both Kennedy & Huges are weak & Chamberlain ain't much better. They're prospects nowhere near the claiber that is neaded to right that ship. That's what I said and maybe you should work on some comprehension skills before you go into a silly pin striped rage.

I am not a die hard A-Rod fan. I think getting A-Rod is a good idea, as long as he can take his good play from the regular season, through the playoffs. I know that one player doesn't make the team. The Yankees still have a lot to do if they were to win the World Series. We also have to improve our pitching. A-Rod is a start, but the Yankees can't stop there.

The Yankees would've been fine w/o him, but the reason I disliked him after he left is because of the way he did it (during the World Series) and because he got greedy. I did lose a lot of respect for him, but because he took an interest in coming back to the Yankees (because nobody else could pay him that much), I can live with it. If he continues to put up stats like he has been, I can live with the huge salary (I'm sure the Steinbrenners can too)

I must have missed that meeting. I didnt say that.

There is nothing worse than a non Yankee fan who assumes all Yankee fans have the same opinion about everything. Oh, by the way. Arod was already going to make 27M this season. And he will more than DOUBLE what he makes over the next 10 years in revenue for the team.

It must really hurt not to know what you are talking about.

"Never won a series?" Never been in a series with A-Rod. As a Red Sox fan I proudly note that Bobby Kielty has more career World Series home runs than A-Rod.
Is A-Rod an asset? Oh yeah. Will he get the Yankees to the World Series? Show me the Yankees starting rotation first. Wang, Pettite, Hughes and 2 days rain? To quote a famous former Yankee, Yogi Berra, "Good pitching beats good hitting and vice versa."

You can go back and look at all my answers on this subject and everyone I said the Yankees needed him and the Yankees wouldnt be close to the playoffs without him last season. He is one of the greatest to play the game and the Yankees fans would be lying if they said they didnt want him on their team!

Everyone knows that the Yankees are a better team with A-Rod than without him. The Yankees did not call A-Rod, he called them after he realized that Scott Boras screwed up big time.
