i completely agree.
i understand when teens do it, because it's just part of their atmosphere, but when adults do in shopping malls and grocery stores i'm simply disgusted. Especially when they're swearing at their children. that's just down right rude and unnecessary.

Well, there are some times when I think that it is appropriate. Most of the time though, it just shows a lack of intelligence. However, people cannot seem to hold a conversation without dropping an F-bomb every other word really just show that they have no better words to describe how the are feeling. Even I swear occasionally. Mostly only when there's a joke involved though. Also when extremely angry. because if you curse every sentence, people will know that those words don't mean anything to them. but if you don't cuss ever then you do, they know you mean business. just my thoughts

I'm with you, I hate when people start swearing around me, it's just not something that I like and I have ask people to stop before. But what bothers me the most is when you have these little teenagers who just swear for the heck of it and don't even have a reason - they just think it's to make them cool....well to me, NO is doesn't. I think it looks bad on a person and doesn't give them a good name for themselves. That's just my opinion....I really don't mean to make anyone mad..I just don't like it either.

And what age group do you fall in? Do you swear? Freedom of speach. Cover your ears. Teens do it all the time, that's where the habit is formed. I'm not saying it's right, just saying you're being a little prejudiced by saying "over 30".

I'll admit it. I definitely swear - especially while I'm driving. But I still think it's trashy, too. I try not to swear often, but sometimes there's no better word than @#%$^!
Because let's be honest...It feels good to let it out sometimes!

I think you are right. If you say you cannot stand people who swear, then who is there to argue with you? You just can't stand them. Unfortunately, swearing has permeated radio and television and has become part of mainstream America. If you don't swear, then you are doing your part by your example to set America back on track.

I swear from time to time, and I am guilty of it, but I do think it sounds trashy. I just have a habit of it, I suppose.

It depends, I'd disagree with the general statement, in my opinion its often appropriate to curse, regardless of age. But if they just throw in curse words for no reason, then I suppose I'd agree that its not exactly formal. However, imo, people should be able to say whatever they feel like saying and if you dislike what they say then thats your problem.

Swearing is a reflection of the intellect. Try to be a little more forgiving. You might try telling the person that you don't like that kind of talk and if the person values you he/she will try to do better. If possible, just avoid those kinds of people.
