Especially Yankee fans, how do you feel about A-Rod coming back for $275 million for 10 years???

At first when he opted out, I could really care less because he had not done anything in the playoffs. If he didn't want to be with the Yankees then so be it. I felt like paying him all that money he was looking for was not worth it. I mean seriously ONE player doesn't make a team. Now that he's back I still feel like he is payed way too much, but hope he comes through for the Yankees.

Dear nysportz,

*Two thoughts.

*First about A-Rod: Considering his post-season history i think that A-Rod is not worth his "weight in gold" until he delivers in the post-season. i'd respect him if he felt like he was coming back to the Yankees because he didn't want to have a legacy of being the most overpaid athlete who never delivered. The way he opted-out surely showed that it was about the money- and apparently he wasn't worth as much as he thought he would be. I think if the Yankees can add some players that can come through in the post-season A-Rod can definitely get them to the post-season and maybe break his slump one of these years- which would just be scary for all of baseball.

*About Yankee Fans: i think A-Rod might never have thought of opting-out if he wasn't treated so poorly by the fans. He is too good of a hitter to slump the way he did- and i think a big part of it was just plain mental. Maybe he can't handle NY. NY never would have made the run they did without A-Rod's season even though he failed to deliver in the post-season again.

The Yankees biggest need now is starting pitching.

Disappointed when him and Randy Johnson left the Ms a long time ago. A-Rod went to the Rangers, and didn't seem to do very much there as the Rangers had losing records, right? Puzzled me when he went to the NY Yankees and why they paid him so much money, but if the Yankees want him that badly again, well. . .

Hope they get their money's worth! He probably has options next year to renegotiate his salary every other year of his contract anyway. Gives you an idea of how deep the pockets are at Yankee Stadium if they can pay that much for one player and still keep the rest of them on.

Is Randy Johnson still pitching for the Yankees? I didn't like Johnson much when he played for the M's, though. He had an ego back then that Seattle could not satiate.

At first I was pretty annoyed that he wanted to leave for more money. As if his current paycheck wasn't enough. Plus he gets so much money for extra stuff like commercials that he wouldn't get nearly as much for other teams. I am happy to still have his good talent on the team, I just don't like having someone on the team who's heart isn't for the team. I hope he pulls through for the Yankees.

I think its a dam disgrace!!!! I dont see myself watching or following baseball this up coming season since the Yankees have reach a new low wasting 275 million on A-Rip off....Unless he sustains some career ending injury next season I cant bring myself to watch a yankee game...It will make me PUKE!!!!

I feel that 10 years is way too long. 5 years is about his limit as far as earning his pay. After 5 years his skill as a player can be expected to diminish. He'll be what? 37 or 38 years old.
