there are 12 liters of water there are three containers one that holds 12 liters, another that holds 7, and another holding 5.
how do i get 2 6 liters?

Halac is on the right track

1. Poor 7L -> 5L then you have 2L left in the 7L so poor into the container
2. then poor 12L twice

container will have a total of = 2+ 12 +12 = 26L

Probably several ways to do it ... a simple (but not elegant) way:

1. Fill the 7, pour into the 5, pour the remainder into the 12
2. Repeat #1 for 4 in the 12
3. Repeat #1 for 6 in the 12
