Actually I am more liberal in my thinking than this question would suggest
- I would never be able to justify the death penalty,
but severe mutilation that would force someone to change their habits I have no problem with.

hmmn I see your point Angeljones... so the only way is to fry them? Seems a bit much for me. Can we try it on a few hundred criminals and see how true your statement is?
I would hope that the lower amount of testosterone being produced would help them to change their behaiviour..

I think Castration is too kind, actually... unless it's actual physical castration and not just a pill that takes away their libido...
Because women that have been raped know that it wasn't because the guy was horny... it's violence. Something more likely to be a "cure" for that is a lobotomy.
Evidently Barry C. thinks you were educated in the USA....

No, for two reasons: 1 - The punishment is administered by a doctor. I do think that this is a violation of the Hippocratic oath (that's also reason why I'm against lethal injection). Whether or not the Hippocratic oath is a good thing is a different question altogether, and one I have mixed feelings on. 2 - Most sex offenses are not rooted in sexual desire. So, chemical castration will only encourage the offender to satisfy his motivations through other means, which could be more violent. I do think the punishments should be strict, but this isn't a solution.

Physical castration crosses the line into "cruel and unusual". Though there is the punishment of "chemical castration" widely practiced. Nothing seems more terrible then sex crimes; but why would we want to stoop to that level?
I say banishment! Send them all off to a high security Island and let them figure it out. If the worst offenders can't stop hurting people then off they go, forever!

People have actually volunteered to have this done as a part of their parole but it's always turned down. Sounds like a good idea to me - remove the desire (like neuturing a dog). However, the lib's find it to be cruel and unusual punishment. I say let the punishment fit the crime. An eye for an eye, right?

It has been talked about by lawmakers, but many people (including the ACLU) believe it is cruel and unusual punishment. I believe it would benefit everyone, including the sex offender. You see, castration removes certain hormones, the ones that drive the obsession in sex offenders. I think it's a good thing.

Well, there would be that pesky issue of "Cruel and Unusual Punishment".
What are the downsides of an American Education system that produces people asking this or similar questions here alone 10 times a day?

May I ask you whether 'bad' means, in this context, 'evil, cruel' or 'homosexual'?
Ah, forgive me ... I had not read the details.
I could find none too. But do you think that can be enough to punish a physical and psycological violence with ust a physical violence ?

It may help, but as any sex therapist will tell you, the brain is the largest sex organ in the body. Those who commit extremely bad sex crimes DO deserve castration, but I wouldn't be surprised if it didn't work. Plus they could always take artificial hormones.

Personally, I think that if someone commits a sex crime against a child that the death penalty should be extended to them... but I think they should be tortured before they are executed. God help anyone who messes with my kids!
