You are one of the gifted people out on the social scene. You can play all levels which makes you the world actor don't put yourself done as you are what people want to be an all rounder in socialising. All you got to do is take over the gift you have been granted with and play the world at your own hands don't fall into the trap you are doing it for other people your doing it cause what it can gain you and your feelings. Change the way you think about it and put it on your self but always try to be the best person you can and you'll be a top person and more people will love you for it just remember if someone treats you wrong or tries to put you down don't let them cause your gift is what they really want for themselves. enjoy life

For starters, make a list of the things you like and dislike, separate lists for separate things. Music, animals, foods. Start simple, then work your way up. (You could work your way to things like personality traits or things of the like.)
Soul-searching is in order, it seems to me. I've killed this horse, but look on psychology and psychology websites. Not exactly the most accurate source but, if you don't know where else to start, Wikipedia is a good database to draw from. There again, not exactly accurate, but a good start.
Some good ideas on people, media or otherwise to research?
Carl Jung.
_The Maxx._
(Unfortunately, my mind just went blank on some other things to look into - sorry.)
There's nothing strange about being what others are looking for. In some way, that could be considered the "glue" to relationships - the person that tries to keep everything together, everyone together, smoothly and flawlessly. Not exactly, but that's the general idea. Sounds like you *might* have middle-child syndrome, even if you're not (or are an only child; birth-order doesn't have so much to do with it at times).
Of course, you could use this to your advantage (as you're trying to identify with the things that people are looking for) and try to help people who might feel the same.
You have character, you just need to get reacquainted with it.
Good luck - this was a little bit less than I'd like but I'll leave it be at the moment.

Jeremy,
You decide who you are. You define it with your every action and your every move. We are all Constantly Becoming. Hopefully we become something better, wiser, as time passes.
Don't be a whiner. Don't be someone who pities himself because life isn't easy. Don't be someone who can't look at themselves, see a need for an improvement and try to make it. Don't be someone who kisses up and debases themselves before others. They are only humans being too.
Look around you. Let everyone you see be your teacher. Let some of them teach you what to be, how to behave. Let the others teach you what NOT to be, how NOT to behave.
There are seven classical deadly mistakes. Pride, laziness, gluttony, envy, lust, anger and wanting what isn't yours (covetousness). I will add self-pity.
There are seven classical positive values: Prudence (good judgement) Justice, (fairness) Courage, Moderation, Trust, Hope and Love (Thats caring for others as well as yourself, Romantic love is lust gussied up for camoflage)
Let those be your guide for becoming who you want to be.
One other note. Fame is a lie and a deceiver. Modesty is a much higher actualization. Pride is the first of the deadly mistakes for a good reason!
