well im 13ish 14ish and my good choice is the queen of second place--> its an amazing story of a girl whos always in second place and shes kinda getting ticked off but the plots just amazing, im NOT gonna give it away.. its not sappy like u dont want it :D.. then umm.... dont you dare read this mrs. dunphrey... its by marget petterson haddix.. shes a good author bbtw.. and in this story a girl has to write in a journal for an english class and she can write: dont read this mrs dunphrey so she does that on pretty much every single entry because everything she writes ends up being too personal. her parents leave her (shes 16) and her bro (8) all alone for like eva and eva... then its all twisted, this is the most recent one i read--> AMAZING! so ya... those are good teen books for like 14-17 er w/e

Well this is a romance but it's not sappy, really half adventure half romance if you want to know the truth. The series starts with Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Well it's kind of hard to know what to recommend if you don't give us an age group, so ... I donnou.

Household Gods by Judith Tarr and Harry Turtledove
http://www.amazon.com/Household-Gods-Judith-Tarr/dp/0812564669
A woman has the worst day in her life.. when going to bed she says she wishes she could live in another time.. that it would be easier.. she wakes up in the body of an ancestor living in a town on the border of the Roman Empire during the 2nd century.
Great book..
Another is The House of Leaves by mark Z. Danielewski.. and there is no synopsis for this.. it is WAY too difficult to explain. If you are in for a challenging read go for this..

"Ibn al-Haytham: First Scientist" by Bradley Steffens. It tells the fascinating, true story of a medieval Muslim scholar who overcame bouts of mental illness to develop the scientific method.
Born in Basra (located in what is now Iraq) in 965, Ibn al-Haytham first studied theology, trying unsuccessfully to resolve the differences between the Shi'ah and Sunnah sects. He turned his attention to the works of the ancient Greek philosophers and mathematicians. He was the first person to apply algebra to geometry, founding the branch of mathematics known as analytic geometry. He traveled to Egypt to build a dam on the Nile, failed, and ended up imprisoned in Cairo for ten years. During this time he developed the idea of systematically testing hypotheses with experiments—the core of the scientific method.
"Ibn al-Haytham: First Scientist" was just chosen by California Readers to be part of the 2008 California Collection. You can find reviews of the book and a sample chapter at http://www.ibnalhaytham.net/

Artemis Fowl series. No romance whatsoever. Don't even think it takls about love and all that stuff. 4-5 books in all. Boy genius trys his luck on finding real fairies, elves, leprecons, fauns, and everything magical. Did I mention he is rich and is only 12-14 years old?
