Normally if you quit a job you are not eligible for unemployment unless you go to work somewhere else for a period of time making a certain amount per week. It's confusing but if you're waiting on a check, don't hold your breath...

Usually only if your conditions of employment were so intolerable as to constitute "constructive dismissal" (a VERY high bar to reach), or if you quit because your hours were reduced to such a low level that it was no longer cost effective for you to work.
