The Yankees needed a 3B and A-Rod needed a team that would pay him the money. A perfect match.

Not surprised at all. I had a feeling that no team was going to pony up $350M for 10 years. I think he got a great deal never the less.
I'm glad the Yankees and A-Rod came to an agreement. I'd rather see him in a Yankee uniform than somewhere else. It looks like things are starting to come together for the Yankees to the rest of the world's dismay.
I think by Spring Training everything should be in place for another run at a world series.

Surprised from the standpoint that he did not have a chance of being a yankee as of last week. Otherwise no because i knew he wouldnt get paid that much by anyone else and would come calling back to the team. Im happy with it but I hope he stays true and has no complaints to being in Yankees Pinstripes for the rest of his career. This worked out for both sides we paid less and of course he gets wat he wants money. Everyone except for rookies are overpaid anyway nowadays so as far as money the Yankees organization has enough of that.

I am suprised. I really truly believed A-Rod was long gone, hopefully to the National League. But it seems as if there's an imaginary salary cap in baseball and it's set at $29 mill a year.
But it's good that this situation is settled b4 December, now there are no questions going into spring training and we can move on.

On one hand, that is conceivable because of the fact AFraud lives in Miami in the process the offseason and the Marlins desire some thing -- even a chew of crap, washed-up, steroids-employing, third baseman -- to purpose to attraction to followers next season. That reported, I doubt the Marlins gets him for no longer something whether the Yankees take Bell, so as that component to the tale is outstanding. I, in my opinion, think of Miami could be nuts to handle ARoid because of the fact he's a participant thoroughly and completely with out upside, and he's so previous now that a exchange of environment won't reenergize his profession. Loria had a run final season the place he blew money on "call" gamers yet none of them have been washed-up whilst he signed them. i actually doubt that this deal pans out.

Surprised that the Steinbrenner brothers are stupid enough to consider it. I would have spent the money developing the future and not be in the playoffs for a few years. What's the sense of paying that much money to someone who chokes during the post season??
I get a feeling that Mo Riviera will sign somewhere else because Boras tried to pin fault on him for last year's exit.
Jeter sure doesn't like the drama queen to be on the team, watch Jeter to opt out when his contract comes up.

It's not a done deal yet. But I am surprised. Not that the Yankees signed him. But that he came back and asked them to reconsider. He knew the opt out was the wrong thing to do. The Yankees were not going to pursue him and it was obvious that Boras' demand was ridiculous by any standards. Arod either did the right thing, or he and Boras cooked this up so it LOOKS like the right thing. Either way, the Yankees win if he signs.

Not really the Yankees and A-rod are the perfect fit. The greatest player in baseball with the greatest team in all of sports. He finally came to his senses and left boras out of it.

His timing was perfect - again! On the same day cheating and lying make the headlines, there he is to steal the spotlight. At least, this time, his two-faced deal with the devil pairs up with Bonds nicely. LOL

If I'm thinking correctly, his last contract was 10 years/ $252 million. He got a $20 million dollar raise...Basically, the Yankees WASTED $272 million on a guy who can't get it done when it counts...in the playoffs!
