Do they have a direct line to Al-Qaeda?

Who among the terrorists and insurgents is taking orders from them?

Aren't they really saying that it is their intent to abandon the Iraqis to their fate, as obviously they have no power over the actual 'war' that is being fought on Iraqi ground?

You guys are leaving so much out of your equation - Al Qaeda is there, they don't want a democracy in the ME, they do want to reinstate a fascist state, they are not going to go home and forget about it if we leave, the Iraqi government will have to continue fighting for their freedoms. It is not an occupation - we are there at the request of the Iraqi government. Never see any of those letters from Iraq asking us to stay?

However, you are correct, it is no longer a legitimate 'war,' it is a peacekeeping mission and a rebuilding effort.

So, what is this 'war' that the dems are claiming they will stop?

The Iraqis have celebrated their new found freedoms in the streets whenever given the chance. So, the statement that they do not want democracy is untrue, too. The region does not want a democracy there because they know be catching and the influence of such would cross borders. Why is it okay to allow outside influences to dictate the future composition of the Iraq government and culture WHEN the Iraqi people have already spoken as to their wishes?

the democrats don't even want democracy here, let alone in the middle east.

Al Qaeda pretty much has nothing to do with the occupation of Iraq.

Because it IS an occupation, the violence by the folks on the ground there against the US ends when we leave. They will probably still rip each other to shreds, but they do that anyway, except we stand in the middle, currently.

As far as abandoning the Iraqis to their own fate, our presence is barely slowing that down as it is. We're certainly not preventing it. Again, it's not a matter of if, but when, and how many of ours die in the mean time.

Al-Qaida wasn't IN Iraq until our troops got there. Iraq didn't attack us on 9/11, Bin Laden DID!

If the Iraqi people want freedom and democracy, let them stand up and fight for it! America did it when we declared independence from Britain, Iraq can do it too, with our HELP. Don't Republicans demand accountability and responsibility for one's own actions. Haven't I read more than a few Republicans say "democrats want to give every person a fish, republicans want to teach every person to fish." Shouldn't we take that same approach to Iraq and it's democracy/freedom? Let's give them the support to do it for themselves, not do it for them! And let's Support Our Troops by BRINGING THEM HOME!

as non-American... it could be argued that they want to get out of a war that the international community and the UN regards as illegal... thank god....

no one can bring democracy to a country that doesn't want it, doesn't support it, and hasn't used it in their political/social structure for thousands of years....

the poor middle east is a basket case, and the coalition of the willing aren't helping it...

abandon the Iraq is to its fate?

maybe we should invade Israel... since we've left them to their fate of car bombs and terrorist attacks?

I thought that the insurgent numbers were dwindling...

even liberal estimates put original total insurgent numbers at about 30,000... in a nation of millions... and according to Republcians, that number should be way down by now...

why don't republicans ever talk about specifics... because specifics don't seem to support the idea that "terrorists will take over Iraq" if we leave...
