There are very little Christmas memories that are NOT my favorite. But, this one year my dad had just gotten out of the hospital from a life threating surgery he was still very sore but My mom and I went to my grandparents and it started to snow this very heavy snow after the weather man said that there was no chance for snow. I called my dad and he was so happy I told him. I still to this day think that that snow was for the two of us.

A set of toy pistols and a new sled. We were poor and I was one of nine children. We were raised in a coal mining town in West Virginia where everyone was pretty much the same. I did not know it then but those days were wonderful. No debt no cares, all was at ease with the cares of the world.

I got an artist's easel one Christmas and I hadn't even asked for one because I thought I'd never get one.
I loved that thing.
I also loved it the one Christmas Eve when I couldn't sleep, my dad (I didn't know it then) went outside my bedroom window and rang jingle bells in order to "scare me to sleep".
