I've been trying to figure that one out for years. I think it is related to all of the violence on TV, and video games, and some of the music. Kids see other kids being rude and mean on TV, so they think it is acceptable, or they see kids talking back to their parents, or being rude to others, so they think it is acceptable. They have become desensitized to violence, both physical, and emotional. Now a lot of these kids are adults and have the same attitudes. With the "Me Generation" of the 80's, selfish rude behavior became the norm. You also have those kids who were raised by parents that were mere teenagers when they had them, and really didn't understand the importance of discipline, self discipline, and manors, and many had no strong father figure in their lives to teach them how to treat those of the opposite sex.
I actually just reported a rude smart as s ed cop to his boss for his attitude toward me when I was in a distressed situation. I've decided that I am not going to take it anymore, especially from my communities county sheriff's or the health department. I'm tired of those people looking down their noses at people who need help due to circumstances beyond their control. In this community the Department of Children and Families (DCF) has a really bad attitude toword those who need help. They look down their noses at them like they are the scum of the earth. They recently put 2 of my pregnant friends through hell with their snotty little attitudes. I just wish I would have gone down there with them, because I would have let them have it.
It's easier on the internet, because you don't have to ever see the person you are being mean and dishonest to, or look them in the eye.
I can not stand injustice, and I dis-like stuck up people, who look down their nose at anybody who doesn't appear to be on their approval list or what ever. I call "em on it now. I'm tired of rude nasty mean people, so they best not ****with me anymore.
We need to start teaching our children the Golden Rule: Do unto others, as you would have others do unto you. In other words. Treat others as you would expect them to treat you. So simple. If I see someone in need, i'll do my best to help them, even if they just need to vent about some other mean person, lol. Ok I'm rambling, so I'll stop now

I think it is because we are in a time where convieniance and a "all about me" is more important than "what can I do for you". More often than not it seems that instant gratification and how can I benefit from MY actions plays a good role in how people are. If one chooses to do a good deed to help someone out they aren't recognized. So with that, and thinking along those lines, if self gratification and convieniance are MY goals in life, and what I can get for MY services, I think comes the mean and dishonest tendancies because in order to live that lifestyle, you have to be mean and dishonest. Just my opinion. I truley believe that if more people were helping their neighbors and looking out for others rather than for them selves first we would be a kinder people. I think it only gets worse with time too. I feel bad for my daughters and what their world may end up to be like. It's a scarry thought and I hope it doesn't get too far out of hand. It's bad enough already. Peace and love to anyone and everyone who may read this. Thank you for such an interesting question, and the opportunity to voice what I feel inside. Take care today and always.

Negativity spreads like wild fires. If you are true and kind, you have to work at it. Its easy to be mean and dishonest. I'd rather work at bringing other people up than let other people take me down.

because these people aren't loving, they are selfish and only think of themselves and not anyone else. everyone else is there to meet there needs. unfortunately this is the message of most tv shows, movies, magazines, music. everyone else exists for ME. it's programmed into them from an early age.
on the other hand, people who are true and kind love people, and treat others the way they would want to be treated and look for opportunities to give rather than to get.

Because those types of behaviors are ruled by raw emotions. Those are the easiest kind to express, the hardest to suppress, and the most damaging to witness.

because kindness makes us seem and feel vulnerable and the population, for the most part, is made up of cowards who will always try to take the easy route.

I wish I knew the answer to that one, sista... It doesn't take a lot of effort to be kind and courteous, and I find it improves everyone's day... one moment at a time.
