It is perfectly alright to let this person know that his interests are not your interests. Who he chooses to sleep with should have no impact on the quality of friendship you share with him.
Just let him know that there is line between you that should not be crossed. Friends? yes... but if you are not interested in a gay lifestyle, then make it clear. Be a good friend to him. Good friends are hard to find, and even harder to keep.

huh? I don't understand what you wrote after your question... but what does it matter if he's gay? He doesn't treat you any differently because your straight, does he? Stop being selfish, stop thinking about yourself and that just because you're a guy and just because he's gay that he's automatically gonna come on to you. If you're a true friend, which I suspect he thinks you are because he was brave enough to reveal something really personal, this shouldn't matter to you at all. And if you're really gonna be this insecure about what he told you, trust me, you're doing HIM a favor by stepping out of his life now.
