Telescope -an optical instrument for making distant objects appear larger and therefore nearer. has a concave mirror that gathers light from the object and focuses it into an adjustable eyepiece or combination of lenses through which the reflection of the object is enlarged and viewed.
microscope - an optical instrument having a magnifying lens or a combination of lenses for inspecting objects too small to be seen or too small to be seen distinctly and in detail by the unaided eye.

A telescope has optics that make objects that are far away (like the moon) up close to look at.
A microscope has optics that greatly magnifies things that are too small to be seen with the human eye. (like germs)

If you want to see something you cannot see use a microscope
