The city where you live is the best place to begin your acting career. It's the city with which you are most familiar and, will not have to spend time adjusting, hopefully it is where you studied and developed your acting skills..

Call the Community Theater in your city and ask how you can become a volunteer with them, from there, hopefully, they will let you audition for plays, when there is a role that is "right," for you.

Do not try to develop an acting career in New York City or Los Angeles. It is filled with "wannabe" actors that left their home with stars, television and Broadway in their eyes, only to wind up as a waiter/waiter. NYC and Los Angeles will chew you up, spit you and then ask what's for dessert!

My best friend went through this same problem, and she wanted to move to LA. But honestly, that's the worst thing you can do. Acting is a tough business to get started in, so the smart thing to do would be to go to school for it. That way, if you end up changing your mind or can't find work, you'll at least have a degree to fall back on. Do what my friend did: go to college and major in theater, preferably in an area where movies and TV shows are filmed. While you're in school, get an agent and headshots, and try to find small acting jobs. It is working great for my friend; she is a regular extra on One Tree Hill and will be auditioning for a speaking role on it soon, she is in an independant film, and she just got an agent who is going to put her in commercials and magazine ads, and she's onle a freshman in college. I hope it works out as well for you. Good Luck!

It depends on what kind of acting your are wanting to do. If you are looking at doing Theater-- New York. If you are looking at doing Television or Movie-- Los Angeles.

Build your resume/CV/Porfolio with local stuff (your local theater, high school theater, etc.) and then branch out.

Los Angeles, New York, London, Hong Kong.

If you want to do some "other" type of acting - Van Nuys, CA and Chatsworth, CA.

It depends. California is very good, if you went with that your choices would be LA and Hollywood. Newyork is mostly broadway and I wouldnt consider it unless theatre is your goal. Arizona is a good place to start too... They film many movies there, mostly Phoenix. Other than CA and AZ...I dont really know...

Best of wishes!

it depends on what kind of actress you want to be. i want to be a broadway star so of course im starting out in New York. if you want to star in movies then L.A. and if you want to star in TV shows you need to look up agencies for TV shows and they will tell you where to go.

Seattle, Washington
there are tons of agents looking for actresess here. you could get into movies, musicals and straight plays (both in "small" productios), and on broadway
