I have seen people get hurt in seniors by sly remarks and joking a little too much. The trolls aren't fun. They are very cruel. But they were never friends in the first place, so it doesn't really hurt as much as annoy.

Sometimes people get their feelings hurt, no matter what is said or typed. Occasionally, a user is targeted due to having a user name that is similar to another, an unpopular point of view, an outspoken ideal, or an Avatar that resembles an ex! It's difficult to know what lurks in the minds of the millions of people who sit & type as they let their minds wander through this world wide web of info & misinformation!
I have learned to just TRY not to take anything as a personal attack unless it is spelled out clearly & correctly in print. I no longer read into anything...I just have fun with it & TRY to be respectful. I'm still human & I occasionally fail in the area of personal communications with others. That's why I live alone!
The new blocking feature is both good & bad. I can see the need to cut off others from having personal communications delivered via email, & not allowing them to post answers to questions, but what IRKS me the most is that ALL users should have the right to READ what others are saying in their posts. I suspect the new block feature is being ABUSED by users who fear they will get reported for violations of the community guidelines because they know they are abusing this site & they simply don't want the experienced users to report them for violations. It's a shame that Yahoo has allowed abuse to take place in the first place, but since this IS a voluntary website, the only thing we can do is stop using it if we feel it is ruining our day &/or hurting our feelings! It appears that there really is no easy answer to anything these days! I hope this answer was helpful.

Some times when no one is here I go to other sites They say a lot of rude nasty remarks and some get a way with it Other times they get a lot of reports and they are always asking this same question , And as far as hurting people feeling some one has me blocked and every time she post a question she only gets about 3 answer so she must have us all blocked,

Some people react before thinking about their reaction. A lot of fun has been had, and some people apparently didn't like it. Why they ruin it for others instead of just leaving Seniors is beyond me.
I've been blocked by one in particular, and have no idea why.
Others come here with real questions for which they need answers. They find what they're looking for and appreciate the help. Others respond in a rude manner, and don't care how they affect readers. Sad, isn't it?

I remember the site before they had the reporting feature. There was a whole ARMY of customer service reps that patrolled the categories in those days, who spent their day looking for questions or answers that violated the rules. I guess Yahoo wanted to save money, and got rid of most of them when they automated.
The block feature is a fairly new feature, and was instituted to help us avoid those people who were following us around like stalkers. I don't think it is working quite how they conceived it.
As for the points...they don't mean much at all. They really only show just how much time you personally waste on here.
For months now, my reason for entering this site has been to interact with my friends on here. Learning new things is incidental now, and at one point in my life (not too long ago) that was my most important goal.
Seniors as it has evolved has taught me one very important lesson...it doesn't matter HOW MUCH you know that is important. It doesn't even really matter HOW you use the knowledge you acquire here. The important thing is connecting with friends and running the whole gamut of human emotions with them. "Living", in other words.

At first when I was blocked it bothered me, now I realize that anyone who blocks us only wants someone to answer who will agree with everything they say. I'm thankful they're not in my 'real' life and I don't have to deal with them, so they've really done me a favor.
It would be great if we could just enjoy the site and not worry about being blocked or reported. Now you see why many of us on here have had to make our questions and answers private. If you don't, someone can get upset with you and go through your q/a's and report every one of them. I stay here because of all the good folks, don't let a few unhappy people upset you.

It's been my finding in the year or two I've been on the planet that it doesn't matter where one is or what one is doing or even what one says... Somebody will get their nose out of joint over it.
My advice is learn to thicken your skin and expect the unexpected... That way you won't be offended and you will never be surprised who comes at you.
I know that what I just said may seem a bit cynical but when one states the truth in plain words that is how it sometimes seems.

Yes, it seems so. They are people who probably had it rough in life and may take an answer you give as a personal insult. Even if it wasn't insulting. Who knows why? I never harmed anyone and I've been blocked by someone here on Seniors.. Guess I'll never know why. Perhaps it empowers.

yes is does seem easy but I would never block a regular member of this site. I got reported but thats ok.. I will recover in fact I already have. Have no idea who did but that is for them to think about ,, I am in no way worried about it.

Yes, it is a problem, and there are people out there who are just going to cause mischief, but a big difficulty is that a huge amount of communication is about body language and tone of voice, which is something we can't have here, so a lot of things are open to subjectivity and can be taken to mean something that they don't.
