I know of a young woman who considers herself punk or goth, and gave her 20 month old baby a mohawk. Her grandparents are very upset about this and says she's encouraging the kid to grow up to be rebellious. agree or disagree?

I guess you would first have to define "traditional" or "conservative" as it applies to having children.

Basically, I'm the more of the outrageous goth in terms of dressing. If I were to have a child, I wouldn't do that. After all, we know how innocent kids are and that should be the way. She should have a little more understanding to her grandparents, afterall, everyone wants safety to a new person in our world :)

That depends on what tradition we're talking about. Conservative and traditional are subjective terms.

If the mother is not using conservative 'values' in raising her kids what will they be rebelling against?

it's not engouraging rebeliousness though i think it's totally stupid. if you think about it, this girl is raising her son with her beliefs. isn't that what we all do? the whole goth thing is ridiculous, to say the least, and she'll change soon enough.
