but when he speaks to me we talk about loads of things we like the same stuff =]

it soundz as tho ur relationship is strong even tho ur far apart and that is a gud thing
i think he's jus worryin bout u becuz of tha distance
he may be afraid that ur losin feelings for him

Well, he COULD be asking all that to your sister, because he's starting to like you more than just a friend! It's normal for a guy to do that! He's probably wondering if you REALLY like him back, so that's why he could be questioning your sister like that. Maybe he's also planning on doing something nice for you, and he didn't want you to know about it.
And...if you say he's hiding his feelings-- like I said-- he probably REALLY likes you, and is afraid to tell you, because he won't know what kind of reaction it will have on you. I mean-- do you REALLY like him back-- more than a friend as well?

It's hard for him to ask u, especially if he likes you. Your sister is closest to you, so she would know the answers. He wants to know if u like him, or just as a friend.
