i dont eat horribly, but since i have found out i am pregnant, i havent been eating as many vegetables as i think i should be. lately, all i have been eating is JUNK! i am going to try to eat a lot healthier for the sake of my baby and would never do anything to compromise his/her health because i have tried so long to be pregnant.
but i was just tonight and wondering if malutrition can cause a miscarriage?
(don't worry about me, i take a multivitamin and a seperate folic acid pill each day!)

One has to be severly malnourished to cause a miscarriage, I have never seen that happen in the 20 years I have been a nurse. Usually if a women cannot support a pregnancy becuase she is eating poorly, her body will not allow her to concieve. That is what happens with extremly thin and anorexic women.

Babies in the womb are pretty good parasites...they will take what they need from your stores. If you are low on calcium...it comes from your bones. Low on protien...comes from you muscles!

In the US the most common problem from dietary issues is spinal cord and brain defects due to lack of folic acid. Thankfully, many of our foods are now fortified with this nutrient.

Your baby is probably fine. Eat well to feel well, you will have a more enjoyable pregnancy that way

yes malnutrition can cause a miscariage but you should be fine.

the prenatal vitamin and folic acid will actually keep you from being overly malnurished. And you have to be extremely malnurished to ahve serious problems.

I have eaten junk food (suger and salt that's it) for both of my pregnancies and no miscarriages and kids are healthy.

I mostly ate cereal, ice cream, cookies, chips, and soda. I probably only had good true meals once every other day.

I doubt that junk food can cause a miscarriage; most early miscarriages are thought to be caused by chromosomal problems. I'm 5.5 weeks along & I'm trying to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, so I can sympathise, it is hard!

Yes, it can cause miscarriage but I think you would have to do more than just eat junk food. Of course, you should try to eat better while you are pregnant. It's great that you are thinking of this and also taking your pills!

Good luck and congrats!!!
