Just in, but not new. Barry Bonds indicted for purgery/making false statements in connection with an accusation of steroid use. Which is basically confirming that he in fact, did use steroids from 2001 to whenever he was smart enough to stop, if he was even that smart.

Bonds turns to roids just to beat Hank Aaron's home run record.

Believe what you may, but here's the real question. How do we as sports fans, as a society, hold professional athletes accountable for what amounts to cheating? Should my five year old look up to a man who would cheapen the all American past time of baseball just to score a few more homeruns?

Personally, I am outraged and I for one never believed he got even close to beating Hank's record.

What do you think, hero or cheater?

Like most things in life, no black or white answer. If I took steroids, it would not enable me to hit a single home run. Bonds clearly was a talented ball player, but somewhere he lost perspective. He should have been content with getting what he could get naturally, but he got greedy. That makes it all the more a tragedy. Would your 5 year old have loved him less if he never caught Hank Aaron or Babe Ruth or Henry Aaron? Would he not have still made the HOF? Would he not have earned more money than his children will spend in their lifetimes?
Illegal drug use still goes on. Paul Byrd, Gary Matthews, Shawn Merriman, Rodney Harrison and Mike Cameron come to mind as within the last couple of years. Someday soon ballplayers will decide it is not worth the risk professionally and criminally.

hi mo

i think all top sports people are "cheats" they have to to compete

my hero would be the one that admits they cheat!!

this is how i see it, a new drug is invented, its used until testers notice it, then its banned, then they make a new drug and the process repeats its self.

those from poorer countries buy the old drugs -cause they cant afford the new designs..........so bulgaria and such countries get labelled cheats while those from rich countires like marion jones have the lastest drugs that dont show up or havent been noticed yet.....

lance armstrong, the last tour de france winner, marion jones, jones ex, barry bond, the mcgiure guy they are all on the juice i have no doubts, if they have the latest designs they win and dont get caught

2002 the greek champion costas kenderis won the 200m at the sydney olympics............why he had the best/lastest/undetectable drugs........2006 he had a mysterious motorcycle accident on the way to be tested, he also skipped a few tests, he never tested positive but is banned now for not giving samples

the 2002, 200 meter race time was the slowest in 20 years and the first time a whitey/olivy had one for more than 20 years

so they all cheat they have to, are they heroes not to me.

are they talented yes, world class yes, take drugs yes they all do,

yes they have to lie about it, but im old fashioned and dont respect their drug taking so they can never be heroes to me

i do admire their skills and dedication - the dishonesty bit well sorry dont swing with me

Hank is the true hero.

But I wonder what kind of world is this we live in. We've got much more pressing issues than what Bary did or did not put into his body. Who cares anyway? I stopped watching pro sports when ticket prices got so high that the average family could not afford to go. They say that baseball is as American as Apple Pie. I'd rather have the apple pie then the $3.50 hot dog.

So to answer your question, Bary Bonds in my opinion is neither a hero or a cheat. Is the product of what's gone wrong in pro sports!
