If they offered a credible plan that would certainly attract my attention. I have never voted on the basis of a single issue however.

The whole reliance on oil has been a central issue in US politics pretty well my entire adult life and there seems to be just one thing after another that causes problems because of it: economic problems, geopolitical conflicts, environmental problems. It would be nice if the country could do the right thing for a change instead of the expedient thing because of an addiction to oil.

That's a toughie. Personally, I think the top three issues globally and nationally are: 1. overpopulation, 2. over-consumption of resources/pollution 3. unconscionably disparate extremes of wealth and poverty. Getting off oil altogether and on to solar, wind, micro-hydro, electromagnetic, etc. would do allot to save the planet's environment and improve the chances for the survival of our species (not to mention a host of others). If this hypothetical anti-oil candidate were also in every other way a Bush clone: anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage, anti-U.N., just basically anti-everybody but him? I suppose it still might be worth voting for him (or her) just to get off oil. Hopefully we could put the other issues back on track when someone else came to power.

The flaw with this is that you have to elect them in order to see if they will do what they say. If they don't, you've already wasted your vote on electing them to one term.
I would look skeptically at anyone that promised to get America off Mid East oil, especially that quickly. If this process was that easy, don't you think we'd be doing it already?

The candidate who will guarantee to solve the oil crisis in America will win because there is no other alternative for sources of fuel.

VOTE for your choice as US President on my 360 degrees blog and know who will likely win.

If they said we would develop our own oil reserves, and told the envirowhackos to go pound sand, build some refineries without all the bull EPA crap, yes, I might vote for him.

If it meant having to bow down to "green" nutjobs...like hell !

mike huckabee supports getting of oil and becoming good stewards of the planet. i agree that we need to start relying on cleaner energy sources. and i think it is a major issue, that is part of the reason huckabee has my vote

They all flap their lips, but only one has a proven record of actually getting things done: Joe Biden.
