It's definitely a waste of money seeing how they're going to get their asses handed to them on the case. Bond's lawyers will make the prosecutor of the case look horrible and more then likely it's going to end with Bonds not guilty and the public wondering why it took 4 years for them to actually get them to indict him? They're going to go after that they didn't have any evidence 4 years ago and they still don't have any evidence.

Because he is the poster child of illegal drug use in all of sports (American pro sports, Olympics, Tour de France...). Who better to go get than the home run champ. He is in serious trouble with this, because Mitchell and Congress is dead set about putting someone away as a big example for everyone to stop. And the buck stops here for Barry, he has no one to rat on like his buddies did to him.

Because every time they get somebody else for perjury George Bush pardons them. Bonds doesn't have Scooter Libby's White House connections so he'll probably hit the clink for a year or two.

Because they think he used drugs and want to make an example out of him. They must have some evidence we haven't heard all the details on yet to do this.
