I was watching an /old/ episode of Jerry Springer on youtube [when it was actually a serious show] and it was the show that GG Allin appeared on, but that's not relevent.

A attorney or barristor that was on the show mentioned that he was involved in a case where two young males had killed themselves after listening to a song that told them to do so by Judas Priest =s.

Music is obviously influencial, and for some people it's their personal reality or their escape from reality.
Have you had an experience where a song influenced you to do something?
Perhaps not as extreme as my example - but something worth taking notice of.

A song didn't really influence me, but confirmed my feelings on where a relationship was going. I ended up breaking up with my partner after listening to the song on repeat for about 2 hours straight.

You?

I don't think it's the artist's doing.
I think actions that spring from listening to a piece of music are down to the persons own understanding and interpretation of it..
Hmm

A lot of songs inspire me from an artistic point of view.
I love drawing {mostly fantasy type imaginings ~ as I can't draw people}, and the music inspiring me right now is :~

Blackmore's Night
Jethro Tull
Stevie Nicks

I may turn some of the images into tattoo designs, and {who knows} may one day be able to sell some as prints :)

Whilst thinking about this story I'm writing, on occasion I have to deal with the deaths of important characters, and there are certain songs that help me feel the emotion of what that would be like.

This may sound weird, but when I was about 16 my mum had to go into hospital for 3 days. I could have stayed at my aunt's house, but I didn't want to be there with all my {much younger} cousins. So I stayed at home, and listened to Guns N' Roses ~ songs like 'Don't Cry', 'November Rain', 'Estranged'.
Now, most people would find that depressing, but it actually made me feel so much better!

After listening to "Courage, Robert" by Meg & Dia, I decided to learn how to play the 43 pieces from the Album For The Young by Robert Schumann.

I also tried to paint a painting once, after listening to John Lennon's "Imagine." I started it about 2 years ago and it's still not finished. The last time I worked on it was about 3 months ago and I didn't really get much done. I'm not much of an artist, haha.

The only way a song has influenced me is if I liked a song by someone I didn't know I would listen to more of their music.

Yeah, but it influences me to do things that are the best for me, if that makes sense. I wanted to break up with my boyfriend, so I listened to Not A Second Time by the Beatles.
When I want to relax, I come home and listen to Neil Young or Bron-Yr-Aur by Led Zeppelin. They calm me right down.
When I want the "nads" to do something, I listen to hair bands. They give me the courage to cope with things.
So there's my ramblings... hope it helps a bit.

it really p**sses me off when certain establishments blame bands, mainly ''rock'' bands, when kids either try to commit suicide,or harm others, dont get me wrong,i know a lot of people out there are suffering with depression in some form or other, but you cant blame the bands/lyrics on this, music comes in all forms, some are sad songs, some have unsavoury lyrics, but dont blame the music, yes if a certain song is played over, and over it can drive you mental sometimes!!!

Being a chronic sufferer of Depression, I think "It Can't Rain All the Time" (by Jane Sibbery) is very empowering in MY life. I can listen to that song and REALIZE that it DOES get better

i was very upset at a time in my life,
and i didn't think i could hold on much longer.
i wasn't considering suicide,
and i wasn't hurting myself in any way,
but i was just so upset.
i had so much anger and sadness inside
and i was never happy.

i listened to the song
"hold on"
by good charlotte,
and usually, i hate good charlotte,
but the message and the video
really spoke to me,
and it changed my outlook on things
at least a little bit.

also, my brother is in the army,
and i listened to american soldier by toby keith
several times,
and it made me gain a respect for him,
and i wasn't upset about that anymore.

We actually had a discussion about this in my music class several years ago. This one kid accused rock music for pushing this kid in my school to suicide.
I don't think the impact of music has such a huge impact but I was having a hard time about several weeks ago and I just put Let It Be on and was like "Screw it all! Let it be! Life's to short to worry about the small things". It really made me relax about everything. It was just a small glimmer of hope and kind of made me reevaluate my life (I would have done it eventually, but the Beatles forced me to do it at my breaking point). Not really a physical action, but a mental one.

Yes it did. My X left me for another girl and i got really pissed that night and got in my car and went on the highway just until my fav rock song came on. Pushed the car real far and hard 240km/h and braked really hard. What a rush.
