On the one hand, the guy knowingly cheated and lied to a grand jury about knowingly taking steroids while his personal trainer had been sitting in jail for him. On the other hand, he's just one of many players who have taken steroids and reaped the benefits of it, and it seems like he's being targeted solely based off of his astronomical success.

I for one do not feel sorry for Barry, because we all know that he's a renowned jerk, both to fans and the media. He cheated on his wife as well, creating a very difficult situation for his family. I can understand being a jerk to the media, which he always has been, but to his own fans? I have heard from multiple Giant fans that when they asked Barry for an autograph, he refused unless you paid him. There was also a story about a journalist who was selling a ball for some cancer charity, and asked Barry to sign it. Barry said "I don't sign for white people." The guy responded "White people aren't the only ones to get cancer." Hah.

Yes. Because the sad fact is he didnt NEED steroids to be the greatest ballplayer of his era. He was that long before he started doping. (Allegedly.) Yes, he's an arrogant egotistical creep. But he was also sucked into the leniant rules of baseball that allowed him to take advantage of substances that made him better. MUCH of the blame is on MLB. In a competitive world like baseball, players do what they can to get a competitive edge. Bonds and others did so when MLB was sitting on it's hands and turning a blind eye.

Absolutely not! This is a guy who had the world in the palm of his hands and blew it. He lied, he cheated and he never once endeared himself to the fans or the media.

Those who are trying their best to make this a racial issue should be a shamed of themselves. Right and Wrong, good and bad don't have colors. Integrity is not black or white or any color in between. Stephen A Smith was on Sports Center about an hour ago and hinted that because Bonds is black, this is the reason for the major media hype. I say to him, that's a pile of crap.

Bonds was extremely disrespectful to Henry Aaron during his "home run" race and never once gave credit to anyone but himself for his ever growing stats.

Baseball is as much to blame for this as Bonds. Bud Selig has a lot of explaining to do. If these charges are still the same as three years ago, why has it taken this long to finally indite Bonds? It's all about the revenue generated by the home run race. If Bonds had been put of trial three years ago there would not have been any home run race. Selig knew this and did everything he could to delay the charges. Believe it!

to even ask such question is foolishness. I dont know what your thought process is, but forget about him being targeted solely based off his astronomical success. had he not lied and came clean, all of this wouldnt have been happening. Think Giambi. Giambi is one of the many players you are talking about, but we dont see Giambi dragged in because the guy cooperated. since you fail to understand what federal indictment means, they would bring up the same charges against Giambi had he lied.

another foolish thing you did was to bring up the race comment. clearly people these days have malfunctioning brains on yahoo answers, so to stirr up things, they use race cards. Grow up

Barry will get what he deserves in the long run. I know he has been targeted but I think other names will come out on other players too eventually.

For the mountains of mindless crap and idiotic invective he's had to take? Yes, a little.

For perjury? No. If he did that, if the government can prove it, then whatever comes his way is all his to own.

Remember, innocent until proven guilty, even in these dark times. An indictment is not a conviction.

No. I don't have any, since he cheated, and acts like a jerk on top of it, not to mention, he should know what he is doing, and if it can get him in trouble or not.

I don't feel sorry for him at all. What he did was worse than what Pete Rose did and it isn't even close. He ruined the game and left a scar that will never heal.

There's a discussion started over at http://forums.bloglockers.com/index.php on this matter. Come pile on the bum!

No. He made his bed, and he's finally being forced to lie in it. It's about time!
